We spent a few days in the mountains of Pa. and found the sky to be very dark and no light polution, so, I tried a few night sky shots. Sure not National Geographic quality, but, fun to play.

All shot at ASA 800, f-5.6, 2 to 3 minute exp.

This shot shows the Milky Way in center with Jupiter to the left. The dotted line on the left is an aircraft coming into the area and the thin line from upper left to lower right through the Milky Way is a meteor.

 Night Sky 1

This shot shows Jupiter in the left center with the Scorpion in the lower right. Messier 7 is the bright spot in the center.

 Night Sky 2

This shot shows Jupiter left center with  Messier 7 and at the top left center is the Crown.

  • Are there two meteors in the first one?  I see a white and a red streak.

Never tried stars, but you can see their movement in the first one.  Not so noticeable in the last.

  • all those stars up there, makes a person stop and think of this great universe we live in and at that particular time wonder how many people around the world were viewing the same thing.
