I really want to see how the new editor works and it's been a month since I've posted anything.  Granted, I've taken lots of shots in the desert but none of them are ready to be put up here.  And I've been viewing all these great flower shots and it made me think of ALL the flowers I've shot in the past couple of months (these shouldn't be in the challenge though....  That's meant to motivate you to go out and shoot NEW pictures).  But there are a lot of new faces, so these will be new for a lot of you.

Not a flower, but a weed

I think they're shining examples of flowers up close, but let me know what you think (Go on, burst my bubble!).
And to make this a little interesting, can you pick the two that were shot with my film camera?

I definately won't burst your bubble on the first one.  I love that one.  Great comp focus everything.  But "Flora 3"  that one my eye doesn't go right to a focal point also think it is a tad soft.  Not sure as far as the film ones.  Maybe filter 6 and flora 3?

  • When I was reviewing them I wasn't sure if it was soft (but I think the other version that I have of that flower is.  It's actually some from the second month I had my D200).  And nope, not those two :-D

4 and 5 shot with film, or possibly 5 and 7.   I like your compositionans and your lighting, but the colors are sort of over saturated.  Was that intentional?

  • Naw, I was going to say something about "weeds" here, but I think I will do it in a forum like we need to do.

OK, the #1 shot, a beautiful yellow flower that has matured to seed. I like the way you did that even though it is a re-post.

Now, filter flash looks to me like fabric flash. Flora looks soft to me too. I like the rest very much. And I can't tell the film unless it is the soft one, 5&6?

the first  two are film. I think I like them the best also. Not because the are film but I like the detail in the first one and the color in the second. Also good contrast...they really pop out. Nice!

  • The Bear is with bigvern as he also believes the first two are film as the images are rich in detail and exposure but the light management does add a third dimension.

  • Again Filter Flash 6 is my very favorite.  I don't know if it is the almost cloth-like texture, the color, or the lighting.  But something about that shot is just very appealing to me.

  • First off, fuzzy was the closest and did pick one of them (considering there are only six, I guess she technically picked both).  And to answer her question, no I didn't over saturate them at all.  For some I did no ps work because they were taken when I refused to use it all and others there were only slight levels adjustments.

If you didn't guess from that comment the two film shots are october flower 3 (taken with Kodachrome slide film) and more purple (taken with fuji suprema color negative film)
And to answer TOG: Yes, filter flash is a synthetic flower.  That shot was from my experiments with tissue paper over my flash to add color to a picture.

And just a little more fun, these shots are in order newest to oldest.
