The way I look at it, is they are quite pretty. Love the pattern in thistle 3. While the photo works well, I might have been tempted to crop out the plant on the left.
Thistle 1, not quite as pretty as 3, I'm guessing it's because its an older bloom.
Thistle 2, this show off the bloom very nicely. I don't know what that thing is (center foreground) but it distracts from the shot.

lovely set with nice lighting...have to agree with the duck...try cropping some of the distracting stuff out and the blooms may look more interesting off center.

very nice set! I like how they look befoere it blooms, is actually simular to a sunflower, anyways, they are very nice and I like the colors in #2 and the angle in #1

I happen to like tthhhisethhles very much. They have a pleasing purple and formation. Just don't touch the stem!
I agree that you should have asked the alien pod to move off your shot... nicely of course. What is that thing, really??

The angle and composition on 2 is very nice and I like the pod in the foreground, it adds another texture/dimension and is interesting.

I like thistles, they are neat looking and fun to photograph. The first and last look like artichoke petals. Nice shots. :o)
