Last saturday my husband got handed 2 tickets for the game.  Of course I got my camera ready. These tickets were luxury box seats.  We got V.I.P. parking, the buffet, all you can eat and drink.  All this was free to us.  We were 7 rows from the front and right behind home plate!!! The only way to go.  I ended up using my film camera because I left my memory card to the digital at home.  Kick me now. (I bought extra memory monday) Anyway, this is one that I like the best. Hope you do too.

Nice Hit

Good Cards!!!  :o)

Disturbing Action Shots (Late Entry) and After Dark Shots

The firefighters, the EMTs, the law enforcement officers, all of those who protect the citizens of our communities, never know when, or if, they might be called upon to assist a friend or relative. It's in the back of their minds every time they are beckoned, but usually it doesn't happen. It may be a car accident, a fire, a rescue call or who knows what, but it can and does happen, especially in a small community. It always leaves you with an empty, sick feeling in the pit of your stomach. It leaves you with sadness. It leaves you wondering, "What if that had been my son or daughter?"

Our fire department has rehearsals (practices) on the first and third Thursdays of each month. The plan for our rehearsal last Thursday was to tour two buildings in order to familiarize the firefighters with the construction and layout that was used in each. The first building we toured was a wood frame condominium that is currently under construction along the Milwaukee River. The other building is a stone mill, also on the Milwaukee River, that was constructed over 100 years ago, and at this time, houses several businesses.

Roll call was at 7:00 pm, and after a few announcements we headed to the condo. The walk through/walk around at the condo lasted until about 7:45. We then walked about a block to the mill and started the tour there. Sometime between 8:15 and 8:30, our pagers sounded and we were alerted of a fire situation at a specific intersection. The intersection didn't register with me until we arrived on scene. The fire was in a building that is owned by, and houses the business of, a good friend of mine. During the attack, I discovered that one of my friend's sons had been burned. I called my friend via cell phone and he told me that he and his wife were in route to the hospital. Shortly thereafter, the fire was extinguished and it was time to return to the station.

Before we could leave the scene of the fire, however, our pagers sounded once again. This time there was a wire arcing and sparking on a pole out in the township. We arrived on scene and sure enough, just as reported, there was arcing and sparking on a pole. There was nothing we could do except wait andwatch until the power company arrived to fix the problem. After about two hours, we finally returned to the station.

I left the station at about midnight, and as I drove past my friend's business, I saw him standing on the corner with a woman that was filling out a report. He was also talking on his cell phone to his wife, who had remained at the hospital when he left. He handed the phone to me, and I talked with his wife while he finished his business with the report. His wife told me that their son has second degree burns on his arms and legs with the possibility of some third degree burns. Luckily, his face was not burned nor did he inhale any flames. He is going to have a long stay in the hospital and not be able to work for some months. Needless to say, he is in our thoughts and prayers.

You never know.....do you?

Russian Heritage Month, Brighton Beach (Little Odessa), Brooklyn, NYC.

June 11, 2006.
Brighton Beach aka Little Odessa is the largest Russian speaking community in the world outside of the USSR.  In Seabreeze Park, across the street from where I live, dancing and singing is presented every Sunday during Russian Heritage Month.  The Russians are world known for their ballet, ice skating and singing, so it is no surprise to find great young talent here.  The cultural traditions and discipline continues.

Just a few shots from my son's ball games this week and last week. We are the team in green uniforms.

Our Pitcher:
He's safe even though he knocked the base off.

My Son 2nd Base:
Diving for the ball.

Our Center Fielder:
He slides, he's safe!

Our Center Fielder Again:
Yes this ball actually hit him in the face, instant black eye but he stayed on base and scored a run.

Note: The thumbnail is my son running to first, fence got in my way.

One top fuel dragster makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows of stock cars at the Daytona 500. The top speed is 333 MPH.
I spent the weekend at Rt. 66 Dragstrip. The power and noise these cars make when they leave the line is awesome. You can "feel" them when they take off thoughout your body! Here are a few pictures...

I walk in the evenings and the dogs come of course.  Buster is amazing to watch, he runs thru the wheat and he'll jump up to see if he can find any little critters.  He gets pretty high sometimes.  I love to watch him.  Here are a couple shots of him in Action!

Flying high

How high can he get?

Sorry, more small shots.

Enjoy!! Have an awesome weekend!!!  :o)

Some Little Dancers

While at the dance recital rehearsal I just couldn't resist taking shots of the Little dancers.  They are so  cute, watching thier little friends. Trying to remember thier steps.   Singing to the top of thier lungs. They are just so precious when they start out.  Not to mention they have such cute little costumes.  I did see one little girl freeze up and start to cry and one ran off the stage.  But most of them just smile and wave at thier mommys, daddys and grandparents.

I went to my baby sis's house the other day to see the new baby filly they have.  My daughter had a great time getting to know her.  Sis, on the other hand, had a hard time trying to  catch her!

I'm having a great time here....I'm in my element around family and friends....

Hope y'all enjoy!

I live almost next door to a little league baseball field.  Last night when they were warming up I walked to the edge of the condo property and took some action pictures.

I just can't stay away from taking pictures of flowers.  Sorry if this bothers - once school is out I will go adventuring.

My nephew, who graduated from high school this past weekend, was co-captain of his football team.  He asked me to come to the game to shoot some pictures for him.  At first, he wouldn't let me on the field.  I guess having Auntie on the field is as bad as having Mom there!  After much debate, i was finally allowed out of the bleachers and into the action. Friday night high school football, with it's notoriously bad lighting has to be the most challenging shoot i have ever done.*1,*2, *3, *4.

First I'd like to dedicate this post to, Loweho, AnyMooseHero, and Wildman, because without your tips on how to set speed, I probably would have thrown these away because of blur. Thank you!
