We drove up to Pigeon Forge for the long weekend. The boys love the aquarium so of course we had to visit! I have new camera so I wasn't sure how things would turn out. These were two of my favorites. What do you think? It was harder than I thought to shoot through the aquarium glass. Any suggestions?

Memphis Zoo Entrance and Aquarium.
The Memphis zoo also has a small aquarium. I had a heck of a time shooting in there, high iso, trying to get the best angle to hide scratches and reflections, while framing, focusing and shooting a fish swimming by. Marginal success but still a sampling of the zoo's aquarium.
Main entrance. Has an Egyptian theme.
Obelisk. Just inside the main entrance.
Cat House Cafe. Used to be the house for the big cats before they moved them to natural habitat enclosures.
Whiskers.
Come and get me.
Lionfish. Didn't like this shot but it is Barb's favorite fish so you suffer so I don't have to.
Piranha.
Varicose forehead.
Comments and criticisms welcome as always. Probably post some more animal shots tomorrow. That's your last warning.
A Time To....

Aquarium - last group
Okay, a few last shots from the brand new Georgia Aquarium.
Contrasting Fish 1/60sec, f4, 36mm equiv
Leafy Sea Dragon - what else can I say... 1/20sec, f5.6, 82mm equiv
Very cool lighting from above 1/20sec, f5.6, 82mm equiv
Group Shot 1/45sec, f5, 57mm equiv
Pretty Colors 1/45sec, f5.6, 78mm eqiv
Blue Jelly 1/125sec, f5.6, 82mm equiv
These are all pretty much "as shot" With Nikon D50 with an 18-55mm zoom. (And just a tiny bit of level adjust and/or cropping.) On the last one, they had some funky lighting to make them really stand out (as you can see.). It was very cool.

Georgia Aquarium
I really wish I was a poet so I could describe to you what our new aquarium is like, but the best I can do is WOW!!!!! I took a TON of pics, and I'll post some more later, but with this first set, I wanted to convey the sheer magnitude of this place....
Space,
Color,
Number,
Beauty,
Size
For these next two, you may have to scroll around. I didn't have the heart to shrink them any more!! (Internet Explorer: hit ctrl+N; Firefox: use the arrow keys to pan.)
Wonder
(A coral reef, complete with
crashing waves.)
And finally, the largest viewing window in the world. This, by the way is a little more than HALF (!!!) of the window. It wouldn't all fit in the frame!!!
MAGIC!!!!
