 Old Barn

An old barn that I pass on my way to work. Its been around for more than a hundred years and I thought that I would get some photos before it falls or gets torn down. Surprisingly it is still used for storage.

Byron Hot Springs, an abandoned resort which was a famous retreat that attracted many famous moviestars and athletes in the early 1900's. In 1939 it closed and became a military interrogation camp known as "Camp Tracy."

Challenge Entry

EVIDENCE OF TIME.....

By GODSGIRL written 5/30/06 4:06 PM, published 5/30/06 4:06 PM

I recently went for afternoon drive instead of walk with my youngest. We ended up not a few roads but a county over for most of these shots. We found several barns. The first Popup Linkbarn , I had to get from the road because my dughter couldn't make the trip to this field. The second Popup Linkbarn had a rusted horse corral in front. I loved the way the colors turned out in this one. But the most meaningful was this last one.
We actually knocked on the front door to walk back for these next shots. This Popup Linkbarn and the surrounding field gave us plenty of cool shots. I couldn't resist taking the Popup Linkbarn from a different angle. Then we came across the Popup LinkVW bug and it's kin out in the Popup Linkfield. The Popup Linksilo we found with a tree growing out of the top. I also managed to get a pretty good shot of the rolling Popup Linklandscape. And a beautiful blue eyed Popup Linkhorse.
Monday we visited the Birmingham Zoo, in the children's zoo we found an Popup Linkold truck , a Popup Linkstump , a Popup Linkwheel & of all things they used an Popup Linkouthouse for the spider exhibit. The oddest thing we saw was the Popup Linkalbino alligator . The greatest moment all day though was watching my kids feed the Popup LinkLorikeets. We have enjoyed this challenge. Thanks for the words of encouragment.

Hi, haven't posted in awhile.
Thought I would share a few of
my new ones with ya.

Been working on color saturation
in images and with b/w photography.
I only made a few small changes
on these to get what you see.
Hope ya enjoy.  More to follow
as my slow dial-up allows.  LOL

There Was a Barn Raisin'

There was a barn raisin' a long time ago,
By the neighbors and cousins and kin.
It was some hard workin' I certainly know,
Cause the hammers made such a loud din.
The barn had some windows and also some doors,
To let in the people and light.
And when she was finished, we heard the loud roars,
She sure was a beautiful sight.
Where are all the beautiful windows and doors,
The one's that we're longin' to see?
They're gone with the ages like old days of yore,
And they're fuzzy in my memory......................DEK 2005
