Fenway Park Landmark Sign

The illuminated Citgo sign in Kenmore Sq. has become a landmark on the Boston skyline, gracing left field at Fenway Park since 1965. DSC00228 In the square today on business I looked up to see this.   DSC00229  Boston Fire Dept. to the rescue.  DSC00240 Firefighters tried an extinguisher but it wasn't enough.  DSC00251 Finally, a 5 gallon jug of spring water did the trick.  DSC00260

So, I went back to Valley Forge at sunset - to the same spot, in fact, and took some more shots. The sun was behind the arch, which meant that the skies were spectacular but the arch is utterly underexposed. (I really need to get a lightweight tripod and  learn HDR.)

But I did grab one shot that was, literally, golden:  sunset2

Jumping back a few days, last Saturday I had three different photo assignments; I took a 30 mile bike ride through rural Pennsylvania to shoot the leaves; I stitched a few together to get this:  Leafy_Panorama and I got lucky when I shot this:  GoldenLeaves and this:  pumpkins

Afterwards, I had to run to where my son was performing in a martial arts exhibition. The main shots were all quite boring, but after it was over and I was laying (exhausted) on the ground, I managed to grab this:  MartialArtists

And after that I had to run to the state park, where I had promised to take some photos for my astronomy club. Again, the portraits of the girl scouts and the astronomers were all quite blah, but just before I took them I shot:  sunset1  trimaran

I hope you like them!

Shooting a flying bird is tougher than I thought, you have to adjust your lens very quick or it will be flied too close/far. I guess I prefer to shoot peoples instead of birds.

I've seen them fly around and have been stung but never come across a  wasp feasting

While I was there a  Calf came by with the momma.

I really wasn't out for photo shooting that day but just going to pick up this   Little Guy

He didn't stay awake too long but took a  Puppy Nap

seems i shoot enough that i upload to the computer, pick a couple of immediate favorites to work, then forget about other shots i have.  on occasion, i go back through the files and find some things that are worth looking at once again.  this time, it happens to be covered bridges.

Being a Cowboy was probably a lonely and hard life at times. Everything was against the Cowboy, the elements, wild animals and some folks out to do you harm. I am sure many a Cowboy spent time to thank their Maker  HearMyPrayerO_Lord for making it safely through another day.

any photoshop gurus have a helpful comment or suggestion about a better solution than I managed from my first LA Zoo Cats post ( a couple of days ago)??  Maybe my fix was fine...it just looks a bit off 2 me.

for this round; the eyes have it...last of the cats: 2008_10_08DSC_0254  2008_10_08DSC_0422  2008_10_08DSC_0425  2008_10_08DSC_0401  2008_10_08DSC_0403  2008_10_08DSC_0577

I am not a religious man to say the least but I always enjoy looking at the religious statues and the stories behind them . I encountered these today.  faith1  faith2  faith3

This is what happens when you put the wrong date down for an appointment.

 2_of_3

You change it to an appointment with a camera, kids and a walking path.
