Found a new place to haunt

By MRQUACKERS written 8/16/06 1:34 PM, published 8/16/06 1:34 PM
Was looking for photo ops when a cyclist asked if I was intrested in a nature shot, then proceded to show me this Popup Linkturtle. A few seconds after taking that lone shot, it took off.  Spent a few more minutes waiting for it to return and snaped a few frames of Popup Linkdragonflying when I heard a splash and caught a Popup Linkbluejay eating lunch.

Sunday at My House

Still too hot to go on an adventure, so took some shots at home.  I am watering my flowers twice a day because of the heat.  Found this Popup LinkLittle Guy lounging in the shade of a caladium leaf.  Hope he enjoyed the shower he got before I noticed him!

Here's a Popup LinkMale Gold Finch checking out the buffet on the deck rail...  I swear there is sweat on his little beak!

And my boy Popup LinkJake says, "Can we got back inside now?  These dog days are killin' me!"

Enjoy!

Wishing for a flower

I have not taken a picture of a flower in almost a week, and now I imagine that some of you might be saying, "I wish Lidljo would get away from the airplanes."  This is the last post of the Air Zoo and after today I will have to start finding some new pictures to post.  This is the Popup Linklobby of the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo.  In the two buildings there are a lot of Popup Linkplanes.  Some are Popup Linkmore modern and some are Popup Linkolder versions.  You can view them from  Popup Linkthe top or Popup Linkthrough the wings or Popup Linkon the walls.  There are also some things at the Zoo that are  Popup Linknot planes.

This is something for the bi weekly challenge: Popup LinkA bird in flight

I Bet You Wish You Could Have Shot This One....

My husband told me there was a baby bird in my drive way.  He wanted me to put it somewhere safe so it wouldn't get run over.  So I went out to move it and take pics.  It was a baby Popup Linkblue jay.  I was taking pics and heard  Popup Linkmom.  She was not happy with me.  So she started dive bombing me. I went in the house after grabbing the baby and sitting it in a safe place.  Then couldn't resist.  Came out and found another Popup Linkbaby.  At this point mom had had enough of me.  She was really ticked  Popup Linksitting right above me on the roof.  Then I had went off taking other pic.  Came back in the area looked at the baby and didn't see mean old mom.  Got side tracked taking pics of a weed/flower and WHAM right in the head!  She hit me!  Right on top of the head.  I think I pushed it too far.  I had went to Lil's house came back stepped out of my van.  About an hour or longer later and she got me again.  It had to be something to see.  I have never in my life actually seen a bird hit someone like that.

Bonus: While on the subject of feathered ones

Memorial Day

By Whybehave2002 written 6/2/06 3:07 PM, published 6/2/06 3:07 PM
I adore this site and am deciding to jump in and give it a whirl!  I am just now getting a chance to go through my pictures from my adventures on Memorial Day.

I woke up early and was swept away to a beautiful, virtually untouched, beach.  Popup LinkSeagrass Tucked away in Milford, Connecticut I found Silver Sands State Park.  I spent the better part of the day walking the beach, gathering shells, pretty rocks and sun rays.  And trying not to step on the dozens of horseshoe crabs Popup LinkHorseshoe Crab that were dealing with a heavy dose of spring fever.  If you get my drift.  Pun intended.

From there the next stop was Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center where I was treated to flowers, great egrets, Popup LinkEgret osprey, cardinals, even more rustic shoreline and swans! Popup LinkSwans Yes, while I was walking the shore I turned around to head back and 22 (I counted them) swans had flown in and landed in the ocean that I had just strolled by.  Nature at it's best!

Hot Spring Sunday

By Arddwyn written 5/30/06 11:28 AM, published 5/30/06 11:28 AM
I took my first trip to Chicago this Weekend and just my luck the temperature was in the nineties making it an almost unbearable day. It seemed that the only ones not concerned with the heat were the Popup Linkbirds. I was inmensely grateful when my girlfriend took me to see Popup LinkBuckingham Fountain. We had seen the  Popup Linkwater stream from all the way across the Marina and it was a great way to get refreshed standing under the stream of water carried out by the wind. The  Popup Linkwater looked too refreshing to resist.

Cardinals

By MJP69 written 5/26/06 5:03 AM, published 5/26/06 5:03 AM

The kids are just as much into photography as I am. Every time they see a bird, squirrel or other animal, they call out for me to bring the camera. I had seen quiet a few cardinals around, but every time I brought the camera out, they were gone. But this time I got lucky:
