Nothing Left To Lose.

By Escape Artist written 9/8/08 9:47 AM, published 9/8/08 10:15 AM

 Nothing Left To Lose.

Something's in the air tonight
The sky's alive with a burning light
You can mark my words something's about to break

And I found myself in a bitter fight
While I've held your hand through the darkest night
Don't know where you're coming from but you're coming soon

[bridge]
To a kid from Oregon by way of California
All of this is more than I've ever known or seen

[chorus]
Come on and we'll sing, like we were free
Push the pedal down watch the world around fly by us
Come on and we'll try, one last time
I'm off the floor one more time to find you
And here we go there's nothing left to choose
And here we go there's nothing left to lose

So I packed my car and I headed east
Where I felt your fire and a sweet release
There's a fire in these hills that's coming down
And I don't know much but I found you here
And I can not wait another year
Don't know where you're coming from but you're coming soon

-Mat Kearney, Nothing Left To Lose.

my new camera, polaroid i733

OK the last time I posted I was in Michigan. I'm back in Amarillo, TX. Polaroid discontinured this model (or Walgreens just dropped it). Anyway, I got it for $70. It's 7meg with a 12x optical zoom. Maybe I can post some decent pictures. Here's some for your review...

my house, no zoom  my house, zoomed screwed up the focus, I think Did cha' he rode a horse???  taken in a dark room with auto flash and a bit of zoom

This is a easier to use upload screen, folks!

A few views of Cliff Palace

And then a few more tomorrow, after that the last stop of the trip:  Little Molas Lake, CO. I think we might finish my digital shots by the end of the week.  I hope you've enjoyed my trip so far.  I've developed all but 2 of my b&w 35mm, but have yet to start developing the 120 (there's only about 5-6 of those, so it won't be too bad).  My one roll of 120 slide film should be ready for me when I get to the photo building today and hopefully I can drop off my one roll of color negative 120 film this friday.  Only then will all of the pictures be developed.  Now... I just have to print them :-/

What I Did Saturday

By Pat Rutherford written 9/7/08 10:06 PM, published 9/7/08 10:06 PM

It's been quite awhile since my last post, but I thought I would join in on the challenge this time. I hope to post better pictures next time.

My son and daughter-in-law came over and helped me clean up the plants around the house. As I was moving some pots, I came across this spider. I saw the red and thought it might be a black widow, but I'm not sure what it is. I grabbed my camera and took a picture before we moved the plants.  What kind of spider? Then, as my daughter-in-law was raking the leaves from under a planter box, we came across this fella.  Any idea of the name of this guy? Sorry for you snake lovers, but we killed him. The two things I'm scared of the most are spiders and snakes. That's probably why the pictures aren't as sharp as they should be. I was shaking just a little while taking the pictures.

My trip to Almonte Ontario Canada

First off, I want to say, what a great site. It's been over a year since I visited and there are so many new improvements to the site. Hats off to Cory.

I made a trip up to a small town about 60 kilometres from my place. I now have a new camera, HP Photosmart M737 with 8.0 Megapixels and 3X zoom.

Here are my pics. Hope you enjoy them as much as I

nude beach

By Monkee Armada written 9/6/08 11:53 PM, published 9/6/08 11:53 PM

I just got back from my first trip to a nude beach. Don't worry though I won't burn out your eyes with what I saw. Needless to say it was not as hot as one might think. Unless of course you're aatrracted to old pot bellied men with Santa Clause beards and creepy European guys with hairy backs and gold chains. Iit was my first time hitting the sand on the West Coast and I got a few decent shots. The weather is amazing here and there is nothing like living next to the sea. around_town_059  around_town_007  around_town_012  around_town_014 around_town_013

Infrared with a Canon G9

By Lane written 9/6/08 5:58 PM, published 9/6/08 5:58 PM

Trying a new technique with my Canon G9.  Bought a filter/lens adaptor for my Canon G9.  Attached a 58mm IR filterI had laying around.  Set the Color to Sepia for one shot, and B&W for the second shot, used the timer so that there would be no blur. Sepia IR    BW IR   Let me know what you guy's think.  This looks like a very promising way of producing IR shots.  ANd there is no postproduction software work needed.  It is all done in the camera.  Details for the shots.  F2.8, 0.6 sec. exposure, Iso was at 200.  Everything was set for automatic except the ISO.  I normally leave that at 200.  Now, I wonder if I can do something similar with my Nikon D300.  Thanks for listening to my long winded speech.

Variations on a Theme

By fuzzy1 written 9/5/08 10:25 PM, published 9/5/08 10:25 PM

I took a drive down Highway 1 from San Francisco south to Santa Cruz on Labor Day.  First time I have been down that road with a camera in almost 2 years.  The weather was picture perfect (usually it's foggy at the coast, but not this week).  I discovered Pigeon Point Lighthouse sort of by accident.

The actual lighthouse is closed to the public, but the grounds are open and it's a very scenic spot.  I think I'll be going back....

 lighthouse two (my personal favorite)

Leaving for Hong Kong and Taiwan in a few days.  Hopefully the weather will be better there than it was in Japan.

Test Film..

By mountainAVETTman written 9/5/08 9:00 PM, published 9/5/08 9:01 PM

Well after inheriting my mothers Minolta and buying two rolls just to mess around with, I finially got one roll developed! Now i hope i can figure out how to use this story feature.

 First Mate

 Burgers and Buns

 Wisdom

 Typical Myspace kid -.-

 Game Day

My family is my life and i thought i'd waste most of my first roll on them ;D but seriously I think the next 2 rolls or so i buy will be used for just family pictures that portray my time with them and capture that good ol' atmosphere that hovers around your grandmother.

I also hope to go with just stil lives and local places all the young people like myself go to hang out around my lame town!

comments and suggestions would be great since these are pretty much my firsts! (I know i wont be going to CVS to get them developed since i didnt have time for any better quality this time, i'll choose more wisely next time ;D )

Hanna's Leading Edge

By Paulamouse written 9/5/08 7:10 PM, published 9/5/08 7:11 PM

I was sitting out on the deck sipping a beer and reading a Stephen King novel when this scene unfolded in front of me. I take it to be the leading edge of Hurricane-now Tropical Depression-Hanna. We are in for some nasty weather by day break, but it sure got off to a great start this evening.

Why I don't have to Give It Back

By Mackinawman written 9/5/08 5:46 PM, published 9/5/08 5:46 PM

Borrowed a 100mm Macro for my Canon Xti from a friend, for the weekend, and trying to think of some good reasons not to give it back - - -

Reason 5 - Laid it down in the woods and can't find it -

Reason 4 - Left it in the car in the camera bag and somebody stole it -

Reason 3 - Cats found it and pushed it down the furnace duct - into the furnace -

Reason 2 - I just don't want to be your friend anymore and ain't gonna give your lens back -

and THE NUMBER 1 REASON - Aliens came and abducted us,  took us aboard their ship - released us later but kept the lens thinking it was some sort of WMD.

The wind in my face

By chef009 written 9/5/08 10:24 AM, published 9/5/08 10:25 AM

So I thought that I would never drive a motorcycle again. But things change. Even the motorcycle has come in a different form. It's light and small, gets over 70 mpg and has automatic shifting.......yes, it's a scooter.

I don't know if it's the same way for everyone else, but don't give up on the slideshow loading...it seems to take awhile to start.

 Scooter

Oddly enough, some of the (big boy) bikers will still give me the motorcycle brother sign when they pass-by me sitting on my small ride like a chair. I always thought that was a weird thing anyway.......how come people in cars don't give each other a recognition wave. But now that I think of it........ they do, it's just a one finger salute.

I can take it on the freeway (if it's not to windy) and hills are no problem. The best thing is the 70 mpg, the second best thing is the storage for the camera equipment.
