Challenge Entry

For the Challenge, What the heck is this!

By The Old Guy written 5/25/08 7:41 PM, published 5/25/08 7:44 PM

Well... It's obvious that it is a living thing. I hope this meets with EF's challenge, though it might be obvious what it is, the challenge here is what kind is it.  Or: Of what is it a precursor. It is just starting...   IMG_3180

OK, here it is. I am not naming it yet. Someone should be able to recognize this tree: The branch  The tree

I just found this here in Connecticut this afternoon and it hit me that it might work for the challenge.

No,  not the thumb.

Hmmm, after reading Cory's comment I thought maybe I'd mention that it was photographed on the hood of my car with a 20mm macro tube. That might give you a sense of it's size.

What's Looking at who?

By The Old Guy written 2/11/08 1:46 PM, published 2/12/08 9:48 AM
Ever notice how some species seem to have eyes where there really are none? Here's an example of what I mean: many_eyes
This wing has eyes that seem to be Winking  at you. It evens seems to be smiling at you.
But it seems that this is really where it's eyeballs probably are.

A little reminder to all you poor folks that have had enough of winters cold and snow;
While ours are withering away, yours will soon be blossoming out> Pink Red

Hang in there, soon the cold, the grey, the slush, mud and misery will be all gone. Then will come the april showers that bring the flowers- and more mud. Soon it will be summer- then you will be hot and sweaty. Ah, well, those be the seasons. I think you will like fall.

Also if someone could help me with a quick question. I tried to upload a picture and it shows as uploaded but it isn't viewable. I did try and modify it but still no luck. Is there a way to delete it and try again?

Thanks!
Kelly

Thank you, Cory, for fixing the site! You don't know how much you are appreciated! It's like the old saying goes, you don't realize what you've got 'til it's gone; it felt like part of my day was missing.....Anyway, being without you guys gave me a chance to use my camera some more. Got a couple of shots that I've never captured before Popup Linkblack monarch Popup Linkyellow Popup Linkmonarch. These Popup LinkCanadians and Blue Bills were sharing the same space in the pond. We have lots of Robins in our yard, and one has set up house and getting ready to raise a Popup Linkfamily. And, of course I have the obligatory Popup Linksunrise. Hope y'all enjoy!

Flowers and Butterflies

By Deleana written 8/2/03 11:06 PM, published 8/2/03 11:06 PM
These pictures were taken at Callaway Gardens in Georgia. The butterflies were all in the butterfly house there. This one is Popup Linksitting on some pretty flowers.

This butterfly is unsual in its markings. The bold Popup Linkstripes are in only red and white.

The third picture is a Popup Linksingle ball of flowers. This was in the butterfly house also. Food for the butterflies
