Just some patriotic pictures...

I was in Maryland last week, visiting a friend. We had a lot of fun, and I took about 300 pictures. Here are eight patriotic pictures I took in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
*For 'inside of a canon', I stuck my lens in the canon mouth, turned up the f-stop, and switched it to manual focus because auto didn't want to work.

Playing around

Friday while I was testing the new equipment, I went walking around for an hour. There really wasn't anything to take pictures of, I snapped a few things that I thought might be interesting, but even with this amazing camera they didn't have any oomph behind them so I disregarded them. I kinda liked these two shots of the light filtered through the leaves, but I wasn't sure they were any good. So I threw them back into photoshop and turned them to black & white. Maybe... but then I thought about the one and only photoshop technique I've ever done other than levels, curves and a mask or two and went digging for the instructions. This, I like:

Flowers shot with a canon

There's really not much to the grounds of an office building. But they always have flowers outside, so I made that my subject of choice for my "testing" friday afternoon. Without extension tubes or a macro lens, I think I did a fairly decent job composing these shots.

The Amazing Canon!

I finally got the batteries charged and my other more important duties finished so I went outside and walked around the grounds of my workplace and tried out our departments new Canon 5D Mark IIs. That's right, we got two of 'em. And Oh... My... God. Just beautiful. Here are a few samples:
I'll edit some more Monday from my trip (and maybe go walking around some more). This is truly the best job EVER!
