A Bug and Mocha's Suffering

By Lidljo written 8/14/06 6:04 PM, published 8/14/06 6:04 PM
First of all, I spent the day with my sister and nieces and told them what the new challenge was.  They came up with the idea of showing you this, Popup LinkMocha Suffering.  We got home from the mall and Lori put a milk bone on the floor in front of his kennel and then I took the picture.  We immediately let him out, and the next shot I got was only his tail.
My brother-in-law is a Body Shop Owner.  One of his hobbies is restoring old cars.  He had his Popup LinkVW that he restored sitting outside this morning so I took some shots of it.  This is Popup LinkThe Bug.  It was a mess when he bought it, but it sure looks nice now.

This picture is for TBell, he wanted to see the size of the Popup Linkmill stonesin the windmill.
In Frederick Meijer Garden you will find these Popup Linktwo statues facing each other.  They say that they really don't know the reasoning behind these two men sitting like this.
At the Air Zoo there are these Popup Linktwo planes in a dog fight - one is upside down and the other is painted on the mural.
There was also this old Ford in amongst the airplanes at the Popup LinkAir Zoo and I liked the headlights.
This shot is another that caught my eye at the Air Zoo, but it was not an airplane - it was a double Popup Linksteering wheel of an old car.  Not everything at the Air Zoo was airplanes

Kool April Nites Cruise

By sceneangel written 4/10/06 9:13 AM, published 4/10/06 9:13 AM

Well the week long event has ended without a bang, just a big amount of rain. Most of the events this past week were cancelled so I did not get to take the pictures I looked so forward too. Only around half of the people came to town to show the cars maybe 1500 or so. But at least we still had the event. On Friday night I stood at the edge of the road and shot 100+ cars as they pulled up for me or drove by. Popup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE These people put so much into the work with these cars and are so very proud, they smile and wave and are happy to stop and talkPopup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE and show off what they have done. Of course they show off the power of the engines alsoPopup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE and the streets do rumble.Popup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE . I went to a Show-n-Shine mid week to shoot some of the cars and fell in love with this truckPopup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE . Hope you all enjoy the view.

The Turkey Trot...

By loweho written 4/10/06 5:27 AM, published 4/10/06 5:27 AM

Well, we spent about 4 hours Sunday driving around the countryside here and over in Illinois.  Spotted wild turkeys three different times and a fox, which is unusual at mid-day, and a bunch of barns and old buildings. Never got a good shot of the turkeys or fox, too far away, did try to head one turkey off at the pass by racing up the opposite side of the hill but turkeys are fast and I'm not anymore. I did get close enough to make him fly. Barb stayed with the car and cheered me on. "you're gonna have a heart attack,... you're gonna have an asthma attack,... you're gonna hurt your back,... you're gonna track mud into the car"!  None of which happened... except for the mud.
No barns here these are some pics of the other things we saw while we were out. I'll save the barn stuff for later posts while I'm working on the challenge.

Turkey pic is a small part of a larger pic and is not good, just thought you'd like to see the turkeys. All the others are open for comments and criticism. Just remember how sensitive I am.

Reflections on a Traction Avant

By nomansland written 3/17/06 4:30 AM, published 3/17/06 4:30 AM

My husband's vintage car (Popup LinkCitroen Traction Avant from 1936) is now gone. I can't remember how I manage to take this picture while Popup Linkparking the car, but I quite liked it. It seemed that it was almost "swallowed" by the garage.

On a sunny Sunday drive...

I was sitting at a stoplight when I saw these cool lights along the side of a nearby restaurant.  I was intrigued, and had to look Popup LinkAGAIN.  I was surprised and delighted to find out that the shadows had  Popup LinkTRICKED me, and there was only 1 light per fixture, not two!  And just around a corner, I snapped what I like to call "Popup LinkA study in yellow."   It was interesting to me to see the posts across the street matched the car as well and the parking lot paint.  I know, I know... simple things amuse simple minds....

What Happened

By shannon saggio written 3/14/06 6:07 AM, published 3/14/06 6:07 AM

hi there. it is shannon again. i have something to share and it might be a little hard to share with littler kids but here it is. i had a wreck this summer and i totaled my car. i was drinking and driving. it was my fault and i take the blame. but i only got away with 2 weeks in jail and most of it was in the hospital. i have a scar down my back and it took 35 stitches to stitch me back up. my face is still the same though, but i have lost a considerable amount of weight.Popup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE

Last night I got home and found my new canon waiting for me. Lots to learn about how this thing works and so I am on a new learning curve.

I left the house early so I could stop on my way to work and I took a few shots. Nothing speacial or different than what I would have gotten on my fuji point and shoot, but these are still special because they are the first shots taken on a new camera.

A Tribute of sorts...

By Penny written 11/9/05 3:47 PM, published 11/9/05 3:47 PM
I want to thank Lil' for introducing me to this site.  Also she got me more interested in some of the advance settings I thought I would never use on my camera.  I still have a lot to learn.  I thank her for that.  Oh and showing me some really great PSing stuff. There are several people here on Photographica that I admire.  Austinspace, Moose, Rock, Wilk, TT, Jeffery and Classy I have learned something from all of you.  You all have influenced me in some way.  I have learned to "think outside of the box" so to say since coming to this addictive place.  Here are some pics that are me really thinking outside the box...Popup LinkChevy  Popup LinkChevy 2 Popup Linkchrome  Popup Linkchrome 2

Negitives to Print

I've heard talk of something that will take your negatives and allow you to copy them to your computer. What would this be called....if so...and which brand name would you recommend? Do you know the general price range?

Just like to state up front that this is not me photo so I guess I can't win the prize if AnyMoose Hero pees his pants laughing.

The story that came with this photo is that the person who did the art work retired at the end of the day. The vehicle was put in service for one week before anyone noticed.Popup LinkDESCRIPTION_HERE
