A few flight shots.

By ClassyShots written 3/18/06 9:30 AM, published 3/18/06 9:30 AM
A few years ago we flew to Chattanooga for a friends wedding. These are a few shots from the flight.

Portland, Oregon is a city divided by a river. There are Popup Linkeight bridges that tie it all together. This was taken shortly after take off from PDX. We stopped in L.A. to toss a few bodies off and pick up some fresh ones. Popup LinkThis sunset is looking back West from somewhere over AZ.  Coming back West I had picked my seat on the side of the plane and had it all set up so I would be able to see the Grand Canyon. I really lucked out and the clouds broke just as we got over  Popup LinkThe Canyon. Popup LinkOne more shot of The Canyon.

If you are going to shoot while flying... Clean the window, keep your camera as close to the window as you can to cut unwanted reflections and use a U.V. or haze filter if you have one. Best shooting time as per normal for landscapes is early morning and late evening because of haze problems.

Did you know that with an average weight of 4.5 grams it would take 7,500,000 of Popup LinkThese to equal the weight of a 737 with an average load on it?

A Foggy Night in Hong Kong

By Adrian S Jones written 10/7/05 12:42 PM, published 10/7/05 12:42 PM
I love the way light plays in fog. On a recent trip to Hong Kong, I tried to capture the reasons for my enthusiasm. I took a cruise in the harbor. For Popup Linkothers the harbor was the destination.A times, it seemed the horizon was a giant bejeweled Popup Linkbracelet, and I had to get a Popup Linkcloser look. Popup LinkSanta Claus likes it here too, and you can see him year round. I wondered at the modern Popup Linkspire reaching through the clouds. I had to see what this beautiful land must look like from Popup Linkup  Popup Linkabove.

My Extremely Late Travelouge (I Was On Vacation When This Happened)

By b1515152004 written 8/22/05 6:58 AM, published 8/22/05 6:58 AM

I was on vacation when the "Travelouge" theme happened (and turned 15 years old on August 17).  Anyways, I would like to make this poset my travelouge of Pittsburgh, PA.:

Walk down just about any ciy street, and you will see Popup Linkthese, little "Free, take one" boxes that advertise anything from real estate to pets.  Walk a little further, and you'll see Popup Linksomething broken or under construction.  During the holiday season, this Popup LinkBIG Christmas Tree is put up in the middle of PPG Plaza, and there is an ice skating rink around it.  Speaking of PPG (Pittsburgh Paints and Glass), here is a look up itPopup Link , and a look up the USS steel building as well.  Popup LinkIt is the tallest building in Pittsburgh.Heres a picture of one of the many nice Popup Linkcity streets, although I forget which one. Incase you ever forget where you are, Popup Linkhere's a trash can that will make sure that you never get lost.  Here's one of my favorite shots ever, Popup Link"a park here" sign.  (This was my desktop picture for a while.) A Popup Linktall building. And of course, the all important to Pittsburgh Popup Linkbus stop. Sorry it's so late, but better late than never.

Unofficial mini-travelogue

Even though I haven't been able to get out and shoot for awhile I thought I would give you a not by the rules taste of my area(I live in Concord,NC and work in Charlotte). So,I have a few pics from both spots. These were taken with a point n shoot camera that I was trying out at the time. From my living town are these shots from a Popup Linkmemorial garden with these Popup Linkpink flowers and thisPopup Linklion head. This is the  Popup LinkConcord airport that I shot handheld through the fence in low light (excuse the quality). This is a view of Charlotte from  Popup LinkMarshall park and another Popup Linkview . A few Popup Linkpark residents.A shot taken at Popup Linkdusk. I figured I would take the assignment opportunity to show y'all around at least a little as I have really enjoyed seeing all of your towns. These were taken a few years ago and don't have some of the newer hi-rises in them. Just included that in case anyone wants to be picky(lol).

And you thought you'd seen the last of my Italy pix! Ha! These are shots I took stitched together by a Photoshop wiz friend of mine. He'd asked me to do this while I was there, and I think he did an amazing job with my raw photos--all the credit goes to him: [update]check 'em out again--I goofed and removed the scrollbars, which are now back so you can see the entire picture.Popup Link the Dolomites + Popup Link Siena at sunset + Popup Link the Coliseum post-thunderstorm + Popup Link Rome's Forum, from the Coliseum + Popup LinkSt Mark's Square, Venice.

Lunchtime Walk

By placenamehere written 1/6/03 10:07 AM, published 1/6/03 10:07 AM
Went for a walk this morning among the fresh snow - which was clinging to everything in site. Took a few pictures along the way, but they weren't anything special. So, these aren't them! Instead I grabbed some older shots from a lunchtime walk around NYC... in slightly warmer weather. Enjoy!

I always like the way so many famous and wonderful buildings keep popping up in the background as you wander around Manhattan. Here are a few different views of a couple of favorites.
