Every year in October I go to the King Biscuit Blues Fest in Helena Arkansas.
Always go through Memphis on the way, and eat Bar B Q in the famous Rendezvous Resturant. Unfortunately it rained all day, but it did not stop the crowd from enjoying the Blues.Eating a fried turkey leg is a must when you listen to the blues!Popup LinkRendezvous Popup LinkBluesStage 1 Popup LinkBluesStage 2 Popup LinkJulia eating

Trying Concert Shots

By SaxGuy written 2/6/06 6:13 PM, published 2/6/06 6:13 PM

Okay, so Dirkbag has been raising my interest in shooting under stage lights.

I first saw this young San Francisco cutie (Megan Slankard) on an episode of "What Not To Wear," and I really liked her music. She's a singer/songwriter folk/pop type, kinda like John Mayer or Jewel. She was here in Athens, Georgia this weekend, so I decided to take my camera along and see what I could get.

I apologize that these are all from the same angle, but I don't have the luxury of an f/2 lens or anything, so I basically wedged myself up against one wall and tried not to move. These pictures aren't the sharpest ever, BUT I was shooting at 1/20 and 1/30 of a second at 175-200mm, which is pretty much a no-no, so I was quite pleased.

Hope you like them, and go check out this girl's stuff - her writing is way beyond her 22 years, and she's getting terrific reviews.

Red Rocks - Part 2 - for AnyMoose

By CNiemi written 12/4/05 5:04 AM, published 12/4/05 5:04 AM

Imagine a mountainside if you will - on either side are the two sides of the mountain - in the middle, rows and rows of bench-like seats have been man-made. Well - you can climb all the way to the top and look at Colorado's skyline as well as see the venue still - so that's what we did - I have some 12th row shots.. but sadly, they stink.. however I guess one person's error can still be considered art to someone else - so here you go. :)

Aimee Mann

By Leslie Nassar written 8/4/03 12:21 PM, published 8/4/03 12:21 PM
here are some shots from the Aimee Mann gig in Portland last week. i was shooting with the (relatively) new Fuji NPZ 800. the NPZ 800 feels better than the old Press 800, but don't believe the "grain-like-400" hype.
