It's been a fun year

By tomnorth written 8/25/06 7:50 PM, published 8/25/06 7:50 PM

I became a subscriber one year ago today.  I've enjoyed it thoroughly.  Thanks to all for putting up with my occasional pointed critiques.

During my time here I've posted 339 images.  These are my four favorites.

Popup LinkReflection of storm clouds in Mississippi spillway
Popup LinkTrees of the Odenwald
Popup LinkCow with an attitude
Popup LinkSinopah silhouette

All but Sinopah were originally shot as digital.  Sinopah is a high-res scan from a slide.

I've enjoyed the community here over the past year and look forward to another great year to come.

Challenge Entry

Half the Challenge

By tomnorth written 5/7/06 2:15 PM, published 5/7/06 2:15 PM
My camera is in for repair, so I'm only addressing half the challenge at this time.  However, I tried to make my three picks tie in to the theme of natural light.  The last two images have been posted here before.

This was shot at the Popup LinkSanta Fe photography workshop I attended in March.
This Popup Linkcow with an attitude was shot on our way home from Glacier National Park last summer.
This Popup Linksilhouette of Sinopah Mountain was shot on slide film a few summers ago.  I scanned it using a Nikon film scanner.

The answer to yesterday's question, why is the one side of the Geese V longer than the other Popup LinkSnow Geese V, as tgjohnmaz said, there are more geese on the longer side.

The faces I saw in the Popup LinkEvil Log, look at the far end of the log where the two horns stick up and in front of that you will see a dragon head complete with the right eye, and, in the foreground where it begins to go out of focus is a face...eyes, nose and mouth.

A few more shots I picked up yesterday:

Keeping Milk Cool

By SimonHuang written 8/6/05 9:42 AM, published 8/6/05 9:42 AM

Coming back from a camping trip, we decided to cut through our nation's dairy land, Wisconsin.  It is there that I figured out how they keep Popup Linkmilk cool in the 95 degree summer.
