Fourth of July Swans...

By Lidljo written 7/8/08 5:54 PM, published 7/8/08 6:47 PM

On the Fourth in the afternoon we went out on the same lake that we observed the fireworks from.  We first saw these swans flying and later ran into them on the water.  They actually let us herd them with the boat.

It Has Been Awhile....Stalking

By Penny written 7/8/08 5:36 PM, published 7/8/08 5:37 PM

How could I resist?  These  Amish Teens were on one of the side roads.  They saw us come over the hill and scrambled.  They were putting their cigarettes out and hiding their beer.  Some of the girls had their bonnets untied and thier hair down.  This is a common place for them to hang out and be teens.

By Learnincurve written 7/8/08 1:15 PM, published 7/8/08 1:18 PM

Can you guess what caused this reflection?

So no cheating...did you figure it out? I am trying to hide below the line if there is such a thing...but the first picture is

Underneath the Trampoline...shadows of my grandsons crawling around.

The second is a reflection from the Sunset hitting on a crystal lamp making the reflection on my wall.

Did you guess right??   Thanks for humoring me. Hope you have a great day!!

Inexpensive Macro shot

By Mackinawman written 7/8/08 12:14 PM, published 7/8/08 12:20 PM

Have been wanting to acquire a macro lens for my Canon XTi but just couldn't scrape up the $. I was rummaging thru some of my film paraphanalia when I ran across a  +10  Macro  attachment. Attached  and it worked OK.

I  used a thread adapter (58mm to 55mm)

Texture and Pattern in beads

By lefteyeblind written 7/8/08 11:55 AM, published 7/8/08 11:56 AM

Well, I'm back from 3 weeks in Minnesota.  we had a nice time, though my hubby was there mainly for work.  Though, I felt like I was being followed:

SMALLTOWN

I even saw a license plate with Penny's name on it, but didn't get a chance to shot it.

My daughter makes her own jewelry, and we spent a lot of time in craft and beads stores, and I thought these would go perfect with this weeks challenge:

For Canada Day this year we were in Elliot Lake, ON. Managed to get a few shots of the fireworks. They were the best I've seen yet there.

We just returned from visiting children, grandchildren and extended family in NY and attending a wedding in MA. Loved every minute of that lush, green country, despite the humidity!

The Challenge; An Atempt

By andreaeagle written 7/7/08 6:39 PM, published 7/7/08 6:41 PM

Going thru some of my pictures I came across some texture  A new low in living brought to you by Hollywood, right SG...  as I looked further I found this I think this qualifies as a pattern... so I kept on looking and then low and behold The only thing I think doesn't qualify for is texture... and still I kept looking till I found Giraffe baby butt shot, curls and all... Texture, pattern...I don't know about depth...you can go there...I'm not...

A little levity

 Keep it up...

Comment Welcome!  Blessings!

Fourth of July Fireworks

By Lidljo written 7/7/08 6:14 PM, published 7/7/08 6:15 PM

I have a different camera this year so I decided to try fireworks again.  Since I was on a boat taking the shots there was some movement.  I know it would have been better to be on land with a tripod - I did use a monopod to sturdy it against my knee.  How did I do?

My Husband Birthday Present

By Penny written 7/7/08 5:10 PM, published 7/7/08 5:10 PM

I took this pic of a doe and her fawn awhile back.  I decided to play with it one day and liked how it turned out.  So I took it to a friend of mine who owns a photo studio and we ordered it.  I just got the finished product back and it turned out great.  Now it is framed, spray matte finished and 16X20 mounted print.  The great thing with the finish is it doesn't need glass.  So not worry about moisture between the pic and glass.  The actual print is a different size then this shot.

Deer

BTW my husband loved it!  His birthday isn't until Saturday but I couldn't stand it....

T, D, & P

By grami written 7/7/08 4:37 PM, published 7/7/08 4:37 PM

This sounds like a great challenge. Twas just up in the smokey mountains of California and got a few shots. Had to shoot mostly close-up, any distance and you could see the smoke in the air. Here's a large manzanita that has both  old & new texture

Oh, and here's one for the previous challenge. No PSing involved. It's not easy getting a hand in the right spot, but it was fun trying. Going for a (soft landing). ... Drat, well if ya want to see the shot you'll hafta go to my images 'cause I can't get it to come up and insert. Must be something with the Safari browser.
