This last Saturday Darrylwg and I visited Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area … just a short drive west of Las Vegas.

The fence in the foreground is needed to keep the wild horses and burros off the road … Mountain_1

This is one reason why it’s called Red Rock Canyon … Red_Rock_1

Wind beaten tree with Las Vegas in the background … Red_Rock_3

More Red Rock … Red_Rock_4

Not all the rock is red … Red_Rock_2

This Stage Coach was at the entrance to Bonnie Springs just a few miles south of Red Rock Canyon … Stage_Coach

There is more to Las Vegas then Hotels & Casinos … enjoy!

Thank you for your comments.

This park was quite different, unlike Zion which you could see approaching  for miles, once in the parking lot a few yards away there was nothing to see.
After a short walk this was my first view
It feels like you have landed on another planet looking at what is before you arch view
Hiking down inside was hot and hard but worth the effort. Here's a nice set of Hoodos
When I see a couple struggling to take each others picture I usually offer to take their shot. This couple from Germany insisted they take ours too.Birdie and Wildman
They come in all shapes and sizes, here's a bigbig hoodoo

.. in the archives looking for images with the tonal range for b&w conversion. Trying to learn to "see" better for shooting in black and white. My dog sees that way but unless it's food he doesn't think it looks good.

Since we have received  what little rains we got too late out in the Anza-Borrego Desert this year to provide for a good Wildflower Bloom, I thought I would show one from last year's almost record Rainfall. These were some of my first shots with my 20D.

Like a number of others at Photographica, I enjoy wandering through the desert.
The adaptations plants and animals make to live in this environment amaze me.

The weather has been so dreary here and there just hasn't been anything interesting to shoot, so I started looking back at some of my past pictures.  Summer before last we were traveling the southern route to California.  In the middle of the prairie while crossing Texas we came across this Popup Linkhuge cross that had statues around it and gardens.  It was lovely.  We saw the Popup LinkPainted Desert and Popup Linkthe Grand Canyon.  In the desert we found some  Popup Linkpetrified wood and a Popup Linksunset in New Mexico.  We spent a week in Mammoth Lakes in California and enjoyed every minute.  On our way home we stopped at The House on the Rock in Wisconsin.  One of my favorite rooms there has this huge carousel with
Popup Linktwirling lights.

Hi, My Name is Moose. Yes my mother named me Moose although the when I was a kid, I thought my name was Lilshit cause my Mom always said: "Get over here you Lil Shit!" Anyway. Who am I? Most times I feel like I am two people and sometimes three. Who I think I am, who I really am or even who other people think I am. Popup LinkMe Myself and I

I grew up and Lived most my life as an Italian in Popup LinkNJ Yes, I did for a while work for some "Good Fellas". But after a while I grew tired of the East Coast rat race and decided to move to the Left Coast to a Sleepy Little town in Popup LinkSouthern California

When I feel like it I drag out my tools and turn people's houses from Popup LinkThis to  Popup LinkThis but I don't feel like it much anymore and I just want to take... you guessed it, Photographs.

I love to go out to Dinner, yes I love fine dining but my favorite thing to do is find great food and a beer for 2 for under $25. But, I am also a great Chef. I love to Popup LinkCook  and should have gone to the Vermont Culinary Institute but that was another life.

Besides Photography, I love music as we have covered already but I also love to travel. I have been as far away as Japan but I mostly like to take Road trips and my favorite destination is America's Popup LinkNational Parks

But one of my absolute favorite things to do that covers most of my hobbies and likes is to Drive Popup LinkOff-Road in The Desert and then hike to Photograph The Popup LinkDesert Wildflowers It is the best I ever feel.

So, that is me in a Nut Shell and I emphasis... NUT

I hope you like me

When out for a hike up a Popup Linkmountain or in a riverbed, be sure to stay in the Popup Linkshade and drink plenty of water as not to get Popup Linkdehydrated.
