I'm re-aquainting myself with my old Minolta X-370 SLR. For these, I used a Sigma 50mm macro lens.

Traces of Matthew

By TURBO written 5/22/06 7:48 PM, published 5/22/06 7:48 PM
Matthew was born April 16th, 1993. Ever since '95, we've been measuring him every 2 months. We missed it 8-04 but, Popup Linkwow, look at that growth spurt from 10-04 to 12-04!!

Couple of extra shots...
Popup Link2 moons Actually, the moon on the right is the reflection of the moon on the left between the UV lens and the camera lens. (My camera doesn't take good shots of the moon...I don't know why, but I keep trying!)

I was experimenting with DOF on these 2 shots, and hopefully got it okay.

Thank you all for wishing me well... I'm not completely well, but feeling ALOT better, and that's great news!!!     I love you all....

Down & Dirty

In the Popup Linkmud today!   Popup LinkEveryone had a great time today.  Except when they had to  Popup Linkwork on thier Popup Linktrucks. Not a Popup Linkclean way to spend the Popup Linkday!  But a  Popup Linklot of Popup Linkfun. There were several different Popup Linkkinds of Popup Linktrucks.  They really hate when  Popup Linkthis happens.  Everyone was there to see the mud Popup Linkfly. Some of the truck were really Popup Linkbig. Some weren't.  This  Popup Linklittle guy enjoyed the mud to the fullest! I was glad I actually ended up Popup Linkgetting to ride with a friend.  I loved it!  These Popup Linkguys asked us for a fishing pole. This is what kind of fun you can have after a lot of rain.  All you need is a field a Popup Linkmudding truck and a bunch of Popup Linkrednecks who just want to have fun!!!

A day and a night and a night and a night in the hospital

By Icemarine written 4/10/06 4:22 PM, published 4/10/06 4:22 PM

I feel like I've been gone forever... It was just three days in the hospital, but when you're not the one sleeping, it's like a year.

So what does a photographer do when he's bored?

This one plays with Popup LinkPerspective!! (or is this called Popup LinkDOF?)

When that was no longer interesting I messed with Popup LinkLong exposures at Night and seeing what control I had over Popup LinkManual Focus with my point-and-shoot camera.

The next day, with the wind blowing hard, I took about 30 shots before I finally got the American flag AND the POW flag both standing at the Popup LinkVA Med Center next door.

(And I'll spare you the 2 hours I spent messing around with f-stop and shutter speeds... about 75 pictures later and I'm still no wiser!)

Depth of (Depth of (Depth of Field)))

By Pablo57 written 2/11/06 7:34 AM, published 2/11/06 7:34 AM
Dee oh eph, I had a lot of fun with this but just could not get what I wanted.  I'm now aware of the depth of this and will continue to experiment. Here are some of my experiments.

Popup LinkA map of the garment district where I work.  I wanted to get just the "You are Here" in focus, but after numerous attempts, including developing film, I gave up.

Popup LinkParking meter in front of B&H.  Guess how much it cost to park here on the street.  Any guesses?  Answer is further down the page.

Popup LinkYellow twisted fluorescent energy saver light bulb.   Say that five times fast.

Here is my favorite dee of eph. (Depth of food).  A Popup Linkpastrami sandwich from the Carnegie deli, ogled last Monday night, which cost $12.75, but was eaten in two subsequent meals.

The meter cost 50 cents per 15 minutes, which is one dollar an hour, credit cards are accepted.  The parking lot behind the meter is something like $15/hour.    I hardly drive into the city, but when I do, I find on free street parking.

Marble Jumble

By Lidljo written 2/8/06 5:58 PM, published 2/8/06 5:58 PM

I started out with the marbles being quite organized Popup Linkon a disc, and then tried to get  Popup Linksome DOF, and a little bit Popup Linkdifferent shot, and then I dumped them Popup Linkall together and took some shotsPopup Linkto see what happened.  After that I added  Popup Linksome pebbles and this is Popup Linkthe end.  Before I started, I had to hunt all over the house to find where my grandkids had hidden the marbles.  It is frustrating when you have an idea and can't find the stuff.

DOF attempts

By MudMistress written 2/8/06 11:06 AM, published 2/8/06 11:06 AM
I'm a competitive sort of person, and I love a good challenge.  Depth of field has given me some motivation to experiment with my camera, learning by trial and error.  These are what I've come up with.

The first is a shot of "he who shall remain nameless".  I thought the light filtering through his mane made it look rather full (as compared to usual), and so I shot it...  Popup Linkhead .  He was not impressed.

The others are nature shots, which I thought would fit the bill.  More twigs and berries: Popup Linkdangling , Popup Linkobscure, and  Popup Linkpicky.  And at the other end of the DOF range - a neat pic of a pond, with a bit of fog at sunset  Popup Linktwilight.  I'm loving this new hobby of mine!

More DOF

By pops written 2/7/06 10:33 PM, published 2/7/06 10:33 PM

My take on DOF.  Popup LinkGirl with a Stone is fairly self explanatory.  With  Popup LinkSeat 33A, I was trying to get a shot of this woman's profile as she read, but I guess I got busted.  Oh well . . .
