Well, this is my first posting, I am hopting that it will view properly.

Calico Ghost Town is in Yermo, Ca.  It was a silver mining town - it was magnificent - the air was clear and the day was beautiful.  Just thought I would share my favorite pics with you all.  Water Tubs Last Stagecoach

Calico Ghost Town Thankgiving

By andreaeagle written 11/28/07 1:13 PM, published 11/29/07 5:13 AM

We went up to Calico for Thanksgiving or for us Native Americans- What Were We Thinking Day and we had great time. We brought our up 2 tipis and our 4 friends  brought their 2, so we had a nice Native camp for the people. Here are some of the sights around town...

The local five star....
The general store...
The one room school house...
The local pokey....
One of the livelier signs at Calico...
I captured this odd couple on main street....

Well now you know I said it was a ghost town..

A little fire face....

Comments welcome!
Blessing!

Some Ruins for Turbo (He'll know why)

Langtry, Tx (pop. 11 or 12 depending on who you ask), a ghost town, is the former home of Judge Roy Bean.  It's an odd mix of about 5 modern houses built among these ruins.

The Torres family owned the land upon which Langtry was built and their store was the town's original shopping center

Here's one from my film days...Fuji Velvia to be exact.  This was taken in Bodie, an old California Ghost Town.  If you ever find yourself in the area, it's worth every minute of the bumpy, 12 mile drive on the old dirt road.

Bodie, CA - A Ghost Town

By Lidljo written 3/10/06 3:32 PM, published 3/10/06 3:32 PM
Two years ago when we went to California we visited this Ghost Town which at one time had a very large population and was a mining town.  It is taken care of by the National Parks Service.  I had to look at it from the fringes because I am not supposed to walk on uneven paths.

My husband took the last picture of the church when he walked through the town.  I will post more of the buildings that he took pictures of on my photolog.

Toasting Ghost Towns

By earthman written 2/24/06 6:07 AM, published 2/24/06 6:07 AM
A Toast to lost ghost towns
lobos and hell-hounds
roasting with outlaws
chose quick-draw or bust~
and bounty hunters
lie in the dust
of empty cartridges
and rusty guns
none reflecting sunny gleams
just gunfighter dreams
grounded by lust~
Gone are the cowboys
riding high in the saddle
tough as cuss
casting long shadows
spitting tobacco stained
chaps hang from hips
driving herd of cattle
through the gap in the ridge
of brahma bull skulls
that rattle inside
where sidwinders and diamond-backs
like to hide
where long-horns and wildfires
Beat the tar out of tweed trousers
in sage-brush bryors
Farting pinto beans and grits for hours
in box-canyon bliss
horse thieves are hanged
where cougars piss
while stark tumble-weeds by
sundried geckos and lizzard carcuses
echo hollow mumbles
of wallowing buzzards
and flies around
stench watering eyes
In a barren arid dusty desert

Ghost Town Motherload

By Subdude written 7/13/05 10:34 PM, published 7/13/05 10:34 PM

I hit the motherload!! I went camping in southern Idaho for my birthday to check out some ghost towns in that area. It was awesome, I got hundreds of pics. They were having a celebration at Custer and had street actors, homemade icecream and butter etc. It was great. Here are a few I've picked out.

Ghost Town

By agonysmuse written 6/6/05 9:42 AM, published 6/6/05 9:42 AM
This was once a thriving mill town that had so much to offer its residents. Now it is simply vanishing and being lost in time. The ghosts of what were seem to haunt the abandoned homes.
