Beautiful day pt 3... winding down

Good thing these were some of the last of the day.  If the neighbors thought I was crazy just lying on the ground taking pictures, they would have thought I was loony pulling out a martini glass, some cherry brandy (because I need to buy some vodka) and cran-apple juice.  Trust me... it doesn't taste good... at all!  At least the pictures looked good (and if they don't, enlighten me please :-).

A few from the fair for the challenge

These aren't terribly creative, and I'm sorry Dub.  I'll see if I can't do better Friday.  The Middle Tennessee Renaissance Festival is held every weekend for the month of May.  My friends and I decided to head up to Murf this past Sunday for some fun.  Doned in our new outfits, driving through rain, praying for it to stop we got there just after 2 and was delighted to spend the afternoon walking soggy earth in severe humidity.  But it didn't rain once we got there!

Today, three for the challenge:

Glass Jewerly  Glass Maker  Glass Ornaments (oh if only I'd had ONE extension tube with this shot or the first...)

Tomorrow a few fellow faeries and other characters (I promise this won't be like prior years with post after post of pictures from the fair.  Because of the weather there weren't many people).

Thanks for looking!
Thumb Note: Yes, I'm in the thumb.  In the middle and I'm not a pirate this year.  I went as a faerie (can't see the wings in the shot) and the boots I was wearing are 10 years old and I lost a sole to one of them that day.  I then had to be dubbed the sole-less faerie.

How Not To Hold A Filter

I noticed a bit of a happy accident while taking this shot. I had been handholding a ND Grad Filter and didn't have it tight to the lens and noticed the reflection of the tree behind me. A bit of a ghost in the top left, but it filled some otherwise dead space nicely.

Glass Challenge - with Extension Tubes

I inherited the love of nature, birding and lots of antiques from my grandma that passed away 22 years ago.  So when I saw what the challenge was this week I pulled out a couple of antique dishes and grabbed my extension tubes to play with.  This is what I came up with......(note:  I'm not making any excuses but antique glass does have lots of imperfections hehe)

Comments and any suggestions greatly appreciated.  Thanks for looking!

I love pictures with glass and reflections. The two pics here were taken during the annual "Photo Marathon" in Vienna, Austria.

#1 - a glass luster reflected around a candle on a marble table in a hotel lobby in Vienna.

#2 - reflection of a typical building on Schwarzenberg Platz, Vienna, in the window of Café Schwarzenberg. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day or the picture would have been even better.

Ok, so I've explained to y'all already that I don't know how to "arrange" and make a good lookin' still life.  Well, I tried my hand at it today (again!); I already know I made one cardinal mistake: I didn't use different textures.  But, I tried my hand at it, and here's what I came up with for ..still life..

So....now that y'all know I'm not good at this, it should give you a greater appreciation for my nature shots!  :)

Hope y'all enjoy.....

Went to the University of Texas the other day and dropped by the Ransom Center.  This is where they keep a copy of the Gutenberg Bible as well as the first photograph.

I liked the exterior glass etches. Currently they have the Ansel Adams display.

I can see no limits to the potentials of the great communicative art form of our age - photography.    -  Ansel Adams .

I can't believe that in all the years that I was a student at UT I only went to that building once.
