Had a day off and the weather was fine for a short trip to the park. Lots of fences here, not condusive to photography, but very pleasant and relaxing.

Spring is here?

By loweho written 3/22/06 5:23 AM, published 3/22/06 5:23 AM
Got up Tuesday, second day of Spring, and yippeee... We have snow, finally. Of course, we have to leave today and drive down to Caesar's Casino near Louisville. Dang it! I run back in and tell Barb... she's not as thrilled... maybe cause it's 6am. We got at least 8" and it was still snowing. I grab the camera and head on out to the back porch.  The Popup LinkSanta Fe's raring to go!  I snapped off a pic off this old clothesline pole in the back corner of the yard.  It looks like a Popup LinkCross. I would have went out to get a better pic but Barb is yelling for me to come in cause I'm barefoot and I'll get sick. Party pooper.
I talked Barb into taking the long way and we went by the Black Buggy in Washington, IN for breakfast. It's an Amish "all you can eat" buffet and it's GOOD! Then we negotiated a little side trip to Spring Mill State Park. Because of the snow, I guess, it looked like we were the only ones there. We stopped to take some pics of the Popup Linklake (note the two far away geese) and Popup Linkbridge.  Here's a snow covered Popup Linklog. While taking pics around and on the bridge, I kneeled down to take a close-up of the brick details when I hear a loud honking... I thought it was a car and here I was kneeled down in the roadway... I jumped up looked around... no car... the honking was the geese! They must have thought we were going to feed them because while I was bent down they'd flown across the lake and were landing. I ran down the bridge trying to focus and zoom and get set to take pics all at once. The pics aren't that good but here they are...

Here's another Popup Linkreflection of a branch Do you think it would improve it to crop tighter and exclude the reflection on right?  I wanted to go down this Popup Linkpath to the lake but Barb said I'd probably get sick and wet since I just had my tennis shoes with me.  Had a blast, these shots are mostly snapshots, so no need to comment on the artistic merit or lack therof, we were just out having a good time.

p.s. Last night I got sick and had to leave Barb to gamble alone. Of course, she never said "I told you so". She's bigger than that she just called me a DumbA**!

Bird kind of day

First for the reflection shot... The Popup Linkbird bath was just starting to freeze over this morning. Yes the hummer on it is a fake ;-) Now on down to the river for a Popup Linkgoose or Popup Linkthree. And last... one of my  Popup LinkAnna's Males is back and feeding. Not the best shot but he is real camera shy. If he sees me out there it is a game of tag from one feeder to another.

You kids all play nice now. I'm taking off to the south coast and will be back friday. My wife is over there already and she called me today to tell me that there was a male Rufous at the feeder hanging from the outside mirror on the motor home. Beach photos and hummingbirds too. It should be a good four days.
