At 4:00pm PDT today, somebody decided to plug their brand new $20,000 refridgerator sized Cisco Router into the power provided by our data center. Rather than turning on like a good giant router, this one decided to throw a giant fireball that burned the hand of the tech who plugged it in. The UPS, which keeps the power on when the city looses power, didn't like this one bit and threw it's breaker and took down several racks worth of servers. Photographica and XLAN were on one of those racks and we lost power for about an hour.

The tech is okay, but the router sadly didn't make it.

I chose the catchy screen name I have because my name is Bruce, and years ago I beat a pirate video game called  "Pirates Gold", where I was proclaimed the Greatest Pirate that ever lived! Pirates are buccaneers, hence Buccaneer Bruce.  Why am I telling you this, you ask? (Or not!) I don't know about any of the rest of you, but sometimes I punch names of my family or friends into Google just to see what comes up.  I did that this morning with my screen name, Buccaneer Bruce.  All of the sudden, all this stuff comes up about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pirate logo, which they nicknamed Bruce!  "Oh no", I thought, "not again!!"  You see years ago, I had to get into it with a silly shark from a little movie called "Jaws".  The movie crew nicknamed that shark Bruce, and all kinds of trouble erupted.  First, the silly shark mounted an  ATTACK on me, and made me throw down.  It was something he later regretted. THE WINNER (Oh MY GOSH, I have skinny white legs!)

I hope I don't have any trouble from these buccaneer people.  I was named Bruce long before they were a football team. If I do though, my pirate sidekick and I are ready!Ahoy!

OK... first off... Someone on here likes to give me a bad time about how I cheat to get close to hummingbirds. Penny, you know who you are ;-) I have a feeling Penny keeps seeing a setup something like THIS as what I'm using. It's not true. The majority of my shots are hand held from about five feet away.

I do have other bird friends in the yard. Two of them are a pair of blue jays. The female is a real kick. She loves peanuts (non salted - in the shell please). She will sit on the phone line over the deck by the kitchen window and bounce up and down on the line to get my attention so I will come out to feed her. I stoop down and set the peanut on the top step of the deck and move my hand about 4" away and she will fly down to the ground, hop up the steps and grab the peanut. So far no luck on getting her to take it out of my hand but I think it will happen. Anyway... FEMALE JAY watching and waiting for her peanut.

What a sad moment it was for this child when he observed this....

This is our parking lot at work.  The only time there are this many spaces, is if I have a day off.

The most ignored sign in our parking lot, it not much different from anywhere else you go.  I'd like to be able to kick some serious buttocks for this crime.

Our plant manager, Mr. KayN, has many friends.  They take care of him.

I got my own parking spot this year.  But I'm not sure what they mean by my sign.

As I get older, I love the fall more and more. This year especially, as mushroom hunting is a new favorite pasttime of ours. 13 pounds of chanterelles, our biggest haul to date, meant we had to forego highly amusing gastric opportunities.

Yesterday after work, I went to Engler Lake (pond, whatever) close to where I work.

Cats get very upset anytime there is a change.  Traveling and leaving the cat at home creates a very distressing atmosphere for your kitty.  Do not be surprised if Kitty attempts to keep you at home, by not removing herself from your baggage.  She may also attempt to pack herself.  When you tell Kitty, she may not go with you, cats aren't allowed, you may get the cold shoulder.

Do not take this personally.  You can take the fact she poops on your pillow as a personal insult though.  In Chapter 11 - How to Punish a Cat, we will discuss how to handle this problem.

Just like to state up front that this is not me photo so I guess I can't win the prize if AnyMoose Hero pees his pants laughing.

My baby is now 11-1/2 years old.  The 1/2 is still so important.

She has become somewhat unruly and I'm not sure I'm ready for the teenage years with the pre-teen years being so hectic.  Between the talking back, crying constantly and snubbing me, I thought I had it bad.  But her taste in accessories will send me to an early grave.

Please any help and advice will be appreciated.

We also spent some time on the porch.  We added a hummingbird feeder and watched them fight over the food.  They are very territorial.  Finally they got tired and started to share.
