Well, the lady and I moved from a Popup Linkgreen dot to a red one, Popup Linkfrom 450 square feet to 900 square feet.

I'll really miss the Popup Linkold studio, Popup Linkit had a great view, Popup Linkelectic neighborhood, an  Popup Linkawesome "old world" charm Popup Linkcomplete with mohagany trim that you just can't find very easily.  It's a shame they didn't put 1 bedrooms on the view side, I would have stayed in an heartbeat.

The new place Popup Linkis huge .  It has a dishwasher, which is awesome cause the Popup Linkold kitchen did not.  It has a closet that Popup Linkis turning  Popup Linkinto my  Popup Linknew Popup Linkoffice.  Slowly, we are Popup Linkgetting unpacked.

I'll miss you old place...

Macro Submission

By cathelle written 8/28/05 6:10 PM, published 8/28/05 6:10 PM

What a fun challenge! Mine seems to center around the making of ourPopup Linkdinner. This has a place in the previous challenge as well. A demon AND motivator for me isPopup Link mountain dew. We could not find salt and pepper shakers that really went with our eclectic kitchen so we made Popup Linkour own from mini wine bottles which we are perfecting to sell in a craft fair in October.  I even gave a Popup Linkreflection of our dinner.

There is nothing the smell of a well scented Popup Linkcandle to help one relax.  A macro in honor of one of our many trips to Popup LinkNew Orleans. This guy was easy to Popup Linkpose but not Popup Linkeveryone was interested in posing. He was more interested in being pet actually.  And my last submission...is not perfectly clear. But if you have ANY idea of how difficult it is to get these buggers to stay still, you will appreciate the macro of my Popup LinkSuki

Eatontown, NJ-travelogue

By lechar written 8/11/05 7:46 PM, published 8/11/05 7:46 PM
Okay-so I'll spare all of you the strip malls and commercial shopping to bring you a tiny glimpse of a town that I really don't know that much about-only live here--sad I know, but here I go.

For those of you who know or would appreciate the joke-what's your exit? Well it's exit 105 off the Garden State Pkwy.  The reason why  Popup Linkthe map is triangled is because that's where I work-Dorbrook Recreation Area part of the Monmouth County Park System. www.monmouthcountyparks.com for those interested.

So my husband and I drove around and found this little spot.
Popup Linkeatontown has a clock Popup Linkand a brook.  I found this sign-pretty beat up over the years. Popup LinkWampum Brook.

You can fish here.Popup Linkfather and son and his  Popup Linkdaughter too.

It's also a romantic spotPopup Linkfor couples.

I also came across this
Popup Linktree. This  Popup Linkplaque was at the base.

I thought this was interesting....
Popup LinkWhat is this? It was growing in the brook.

And the Popup Linkgazebo.

Just up the street were these older stores
Popup Linka barber shop, a Popup Linknail salon, a
Popup Linkluncheonette, Popup Linkmini market and across the street
a Popup Linkkitchen & bath store.  Zeeks and the nail salon were the newest storefronts-the others were kind of beat up on the outside.

So, that's Popup Linkmain street, Eatontown, NJ.

Afterwards, my husband and I went out to eat at our favorite diner-and it's a true diner-open 24 hrs.
I dub it
Popup Link"Tacky statue diner".  That's my town! Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Time To Go...

Stuck at a station again... and the only doors i see are to the kitchen, the pantry, and the bathroom. That is, until its time Popup Linkto go . Hope everyone has a safe night.

Greetings earthlings. I have retruned.

Aren't you just thrilled?

While the rest of you were making loud noises with fireworks, peeping in windows and shooting at doors, my wife, dog and I skipped out of town. It is our 4th of July tradition to go hide in the woods and get away from the noise. We would all much rather listen to the sounds of nature than the "normal" sounds of the 4th.

We pack up the motor home with enough goods to last 4 or 5 days and drive about 80 miles and park it Popup Linkin this same spot.

Looking out the kitchen window is a nice view but walking down the river about 100 yards will give you  Popup Linkthis view. It is the junction of Roaring River and the South McKenzie.

Now if you are willing to get off your rear and put on the boots you can walk a couple miles up the road and climb down the bank that is covered with wild berries and moss covered rocks to get a better view Popup Linkof Roaring River. It is worth the climb I think.

Just a little further up river you can catch another view at a different rapids. Like the other one, you can see it from the road but really the only way to shoot it is to do the down the bank thing again. It's ok... it's only 50' or so and the stickers from the berry vines will work their way out of your hands in a couple of days. If you put up with it and manage to keep the fuse on your Canon dry (sorry.. had to say that) Popup Linkthe view is killer.

There will be a few wildflower and butterfly shots to come later.

Enjoy,
Mike

Abstract Room by Room

By jeffrey written 6/20/05 9:49 AM, published 6/20/05 9:49 AM
Although I may not be good at abstract I was eager to try with 2 goals in mind. 1, No photoshop except resizing and cropping. And 2, get 2 examples from each general room of the house.

Now when a guy needs inspiration he usually heads to the Popup Linkgarage . I found myself looking at some familiar things in my Popup Linkgarage from different angles and adding some creative light. Next, I moved indoors into the Popup Linklivingroom to find some things of interest. When you don't have the garage as inspiration, sometimes just laying on your Popup Linklivingroom 2 floor helps to focus on possibilities.

I then moved on to the Popup Linkkitchen where I played around with kitchen implements (nothing kinky i promise) and looking around for interesting colors. My favorite discovery in the Popup Linkkitchen 2 were some straws anxious to light up my story.

Next, I moved down the hall towards the Popup Linkbathroom to do number 1 and number 2 (thats pictures 1 and 2). I found some stuff laying around in the Popup Linkbathroom 2 that was colorful enough to shoot. But my ADHD mind couldn't stay in this small space long so I moved on down the hall.

I was curious to see what creative things i could find in the Popup Linkbedroom laying around (I know I am giving puro alot of possibilities here) and found a few things hanging around. One thing you should always have in the Popup Linkbedroom 2 is lots and lots of sox. I think we could all use more sox so I took a picture of Mr. and Mrs. Sox.

Finally I stopped at the Popup Linkworkout room to capture my last tries at abstract for today. The weight of this project was soon to be lifted by the taking of the last photo in the Popup Linkworkout 2 room. Well, thats my first try at abstract... hope you enjoy.

forgotten places

By sa m written 6/10/05 12:13 PM, published 6/10/05 12:13 PM
One of my great interests is exploring and photographing what I think of as forgotten places. These are the Popup Linkabandoned homes, the Popup Linkempty factories, and other places that have been Popup Linkleft by the wayside.

But beyond the interest in the places themselves what can be found inside is even more fascinating. I've walked down Popup Linkstaircases littered with rubble, found condiment and cracker packets next to a Popup LinkBlack Sabbath tape, seen Popup Linkkitchen cupboards which seem to have been raided for food, and Popup Linkorder windows which now take only the orders of the wind. There have been Popup Linkbroken windows and Popup Linkbroken doors. Filthy Popup Linkbathroom sinks and missing Popup Linkfire extinguishers.

I have found much beauty in these places, even amomgst the Popup Linkfilth and decay. Outside empty and abandoned houses I've found Popup Linkgreen ivy growing over red brick, inviting Popup Linkwarmth and color, and old rusted Popup Linkpick-up trucks resting in scenic landscapes.

Exploring these forgotten places is a reminder that life is impermanent and change is inevitable. As George Harrison once sung, "All things must pass...All things must pass away..."

I have been browsing the forum for quite some time. Finally decided to gather my courage and start sharing. This is a contribution to the shadows theme. This is Popup LinkGrandma at her kitchen table .

First, Iron Jesus a shot I took a few years ago. Olympus OM-G Kodak T-MAX 100. Popup Link Next two I just got the negs scanned to a CD at Ritz. Last time they did an excellent job, this time they didnt do a good job. Low resolution, full of noise, with patches of color where there shouldnt be any considering the negs were all mono. I called and they said they will correct the mistake. I decided to mess with a few to see what I could do. These shots have been heavily Photoshopped. DOF added, levels adjusted, sharpened, despeckeled, kitchen sink thrown in. The first is my wife at a friends wedding, Popup Link and a headstone Popup Link. Both Sigma SA-9, Kodak T-MAX 100. Comments welcome.
