Silhouettes over Lake Michigan in Port Washington, WI

As Karen and I enjoyed dinner with my sister and brother-in-law at Newport Shores Restaurant, located on the shores of Lake Michigan in Port Washington, WI, we noticed lightning over the land some distance to the north - perhaps over Sheboygan, WI. As we ate, we watched the lightning moving ever eastward - first over the lake and then toward Michigan on the far side of the lake. It finally disappeared off into the skies of Michigan. As we were leaving the restaurant, we marveled at the dramatic sky in the east. I asked my sister and brother-in-law to let me take a couple shots of them. They wanted to pose as you see in the thumb, and then I asked them to turn and look out over the lake. The sky was breathtakingly beautiful.

I recently took a nice trip from Chicago to Chicago, via the back-roads around Lake Michigan!
(Wisconsin side first, including Door County, then the U. P. and South down the Michigan side and a bit of Indiana Lakefront)

I haven't been able to have time to share much lately, but I have been looking at the site. (Lots of nice changes!)

I pay tribute to the "Theme Writers" - ALL of you have inspired and challenged me to carry my camera with me everyday, take more pictures, take macros more, like green shots, take the time to use a tripod when I can, not take random shots, but take shots with an "assigned purpose" and for this, I THANK ALL OF YOU!

Do You Ever Wish You Had a Better Camera?  Sometimes my eye sees a picture that I can't seem to make the camera see!  I haven't uploaded anything in a while, so here goes!

I love this picture taken at Popup LinkChichén Itzá in Mexico, but I sure wish I'd had a better camera at the time!  (Poloroid PDC700)

Also taken on that durn Poloroid was the aerial view of Popup LinkChicago and Lake Michigan - typical tourist shot, but nevertheless!

Popup LinkLaguna Beach, California, a very beautiful place to visit.

My best friend and partner Popup LinkFrank in Full Round at the Wrigley Memorial on Catalina Island.

A boat taxi to Popup LinkLaughlin NV.

Back home in South Carolina, the late Strom Thurmond had a correction to his memorial on the State Capitol grounds, adding Popup LinkEssie Mae to the list of acknowledged children after many decades.

The twins, Popup LinkRupert and Nellie having a day of it!

And speaking to the theme, Popup Linkis it legal? and Popup LinkHalf.

I'm always a sucker for a pretty flower - and this one had a Popup Linksurprise! And this was a Popup Linklucky shot
And finally, a Popup Linkcreative young man asked me to take his picture.

Now when I bought my current camera, I thought I was getting a better camera than that ol' Polaroid PDC700 - but this website has a tendency to make me realize the limitations of my camera(s), so I have asked all my friends and family to pool their money this year for Christmas and buy me one gift together - a better camera!  They have agreed - now if you all could make some recommendations for a quality camera?
