Silhouettes over Lake Michigan in Port Washington, WI

As Karen and I enjoyed dinner with my sister and brother-in-law at Newport Shores Restaurant, located on the shores of Lake Michigan in Port Washington, WI, we noticed lightning over the land some distance to the north - perhaps over Sheboygan, WI. As we ate, we watched the lightning moving ever eastward - first over the lake and then toward Michigan on the far side of the lake. It finally disappeared off into the skies of Michigan. As we were leaving the restaurant, we marveled at the dramatic sky in the east. I asked my sister and brother-in-law to let me take a couple shots of them. They wanted to pose as you see in the thumb, and then I asked them to turn and look out over the lake. The sky was breathtakingly beautiful.
Roadtrippin' again!

We, Jaryd and I, took our first roadtrip since my operation. We dropped Barb off at work and headed to the lake to try and beat the sunrise. We didn't quit make it but we had some nice clouds.

There are a couple more in my images if you're interested.
Islands in the Fog

This was shot at Lake Hamilton, Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was early in the morning and the fog was rolling across the lake. The fog completely engulfed the islands shortly after I snapped this shot.
I was playing with frames and added one for fun. Maybe it would be better without.
Enjoy and thanks for looking.
A Morning At Binder Lake

Last Saturday morning we took a drive to peaceful little Binder Lake near Jefferson City, Mo. The fog had just disappeared from the lake leaving a bit of a mist in the air. We were there mostly by ourselves except for a few early morning joggers, but by about 10 am, there were people setting sail in small colorful sail boats at the far end of the lake. However, Geese were honking and gliding to perfect landings on the still water at the location we were parked. So, this is where I focused my attention. My wife napped in the car while I shot these.
Foggy Tree Silhouette for the Tree Challenge

Here's one I took a while back. It was taken on a foggy morning walk on a nearby golf course. Thought it would be a good one for the challenge.
An Uncommon Group . . . .

The only thing these pictures have in common is that I took them on a recent trip to Montana.
We had record snowfall amounts in the North Cascades this winter, and this is the result of the spring melt (it was raining in addition to the spray and mist, resulting in an almost dreamlike quality - except for the deafening roar of the water) Snoqualmie_Falls1
This one I should have had for the BLUE challenge - how many shades can you count (aqua counts too) Flathead_Lake (I know the horizon should be higher or lower, but I couldn't move it without losing shades of blue in the sky or water).
And finally, lots of timber industry in Montana, as you might imagine, and I liked the look of these bundles of fence_posts
Cimarron Canyon NM
Took a day trip thru Cimarron Canyon State Park - unfortunately it was not the ideal time of the day for light and I only had my normal lens with me. I'll plan better next time and try for better shots.
- Did some in-camera editing on this abandoned house for a 'soft glow' effect Abandoned_Ranch_Hous
- This canyon is known for it's crenolated granite formations and great trout fishing in the Cimarron River which runs thru it

- At the west end of the canyon is Eagle Nest Lake (man made)

Sunday Fun...

I guess until school gets done, I will only have Sunday to work on my fun stuff - like Photographica. I miss you guys and look forward to chatting with some of you this summer during down time.
Here is one for the challenge:Blue Sky Reflected
These are bonus shots one taken at Sunday Brunch and the other in the courtyard at school.
Catch Of The Day
At the pond today looking for frogs, I saw this guy across the cove from me catch a trout.

Here are some pictures taken in NE Minnesota, near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.Too Hot, Just Too Darn Hot
The heat has been oppressive, 104 in the shade with a heat index even higher. So I was really surprised to open the door to let the dogs out this morning only to find this

Building up the gallery
I'm rather new here, so I'm slowly building up the gallery. I'm in a position where I'm really wanting to get as much exposure as possible. This site seems like it might be a decent way to do that. Well, for a while, I've done mostly purely through my account at deviantART, but as decent as it is, still not exactly what I want.Well, the following are some pics of my backlog:
Steak 'n' Shake has been a rather big part of my life for the last few years. It's a great place to spend several hours, working on just about anything, open 24 hours, so they'll always welcome you. Though I haven't been there so much during the last couple of years, it still holds a bit of importance to me. Here's a monoscopic shot I did with my Stereo Realist. Had some major problems with the camera that night, so this is one of the few shots that came out decent.
Hibernia is where I live. It's the only apartment complex I've ever seen with its own cemetery right in the middle of the complex. But that was because Carlisle Cemetery was closely connected to the old town of Hibernia, OH. Hibernia, though, is now folded in as part of Columbus. I have some slides of the cemetery. Maybe I'll post them someday once I get the slides scanned.
This was a fun shoot... had my roommate go up and start firing the flash at the building to illuminate it even more. The ones living there didn't really enjoy it, though. This is some of my digital photography.
The Hunting Master -- well, Jaegermeister isn't something I actually enjoy, but I love the bottles. Another Digital photo of mine.
I love infrared photography. I've only done digital so far, though. These shots of
Lake Hope and
Hope Furnace are from my first major experimentation with it and remains two of my favorite shots.
Day at the lake
When being at the lake because of a picknick of my wife's work, I wander off, away from all those people I don't know and take a walk along the lakeside.

Lake Mendota Sunset
I happened to be driving by Lake Mendota (Madison, WI) around sunset last week, so I parked myself near the lake and snapped a few shots. It started out to be a cloudy sunset but as the clouds passed, the lake and sky were absolutely beautiful...
