Early morning walk

By MRQUACKERS written 10/7/08 10:55 AM, published 10/7/08 10:57 AM

Got up early one morning and decided to go out and capture the sunrise.  Well the sunrise was a bust.  I was able to get a close up of a dew drop (now to find one with a more interesting picture in it.)  I found these grasses make a perfect silhouette.  Oh, the thumbnail.

All shots processed from RAW.

Streets and Roads

By PaulR written 10/7/08 8:48 AM, published 10/7/08 9:02 AM

My first challenge entry!

From what I've seen of other challenge posts you're allowed to enter more than one photo, so here's my first one. The next one is still technically a road, it was just never properly surfaced. :D The last one is a path or "sidewalk" as it's called in the states, but I think that counts as a street doesn't it? ^^;

Comments? Tips? Fear? Horror? All is welcome. :P

More b&w editorial stuff

By enigmaticfaerie written 10/7/08 8:04 AM, published 10/7/08 8:11 AM

But we're moving up in class... or down.  Actually, both!  We're finally past headshots and this past week we had to shoot almost full body.  And we got to use 3 light sources.  Attempting to do recreate the Avedon look (two umbrellas lighting the back a stop down from the Soft box that will light the subject).  I'm not sure how I did, but I was pleased with my results.

These were shot with Ilford FP4 (35mm) and one was with Ilford Delta 100 (120) shot with the school's Hassleblad, 1/125" at f16.

 Let's stop here for lunch

  Let's pick a table

 It's nice and bright in here

 It is quite a colorful place and not too crowded

White House Retreat Center

By boland1958 written 10/4/08 5:43 PM, published 10/6/08 7:21 PM

Once a year I go on a 3-day silent retreat at the White House in South St Louis County.  It is run by the Jesuits.  Fortunately, the retreat is always the 3rd weekend in October - the peak of the Fall Foliage season in St Louis.  The grounds are beautiful this time of year.   It's like God decided to give me the best light and color imaginable each year.  I leave for the retreat in two weeks.  Here are a few of my favorite shots.

another challedge reponse

By fatcatxcon written 10/6/08 1:14 PM, published 10/6/08 1:16 PM

Guys, I'm thinking about pulling some of my older stories...whatcha' think?? Anyway this little digicam I have now is really producing some decent shots and some of my older stories are just messy. I'd like to save them to my files but that's not possible, huh??

So here's some street and road shots for your opinion. First, here's a couple shots that seem typical at first glance, but the archs really do get smaller DSCI0022  DSCI0028

Here's another orphan kicked to the curb DSCI0006

 These are Stanley Marsh signs, the first being on his ranch, Toad Hill. DSCI0016    DSCI0002

Could anything be more discouraging than having... DSCI0003 ???

Finally for the weary traveler DSCI0012

So, there's yet another story posted from my corner of your world! Enjoy!

Wishes & Crabs

By Ashton written 10/6/08 7:55 AM, published 10/6/08 7:55 AM

When I go crabbing
I'm always wishing
Some crab will be my prize;
But while I'm crabbing,
The crab are wishing
   Otherwise.

And all the wishes
Of all the crabs
Seem always to come true;
So all my wishes
To catch some crabs
   Never do.

Sorry. :(

Have not post here for a while. I could make all the excuses in the world but the reality is that I have not been inspired enough. Not that I have not been taking photos, Just not a lot.

Here are two from my attic window. we have had some beautiful sunsets this fall.  attic_window_sunset   and  DSC_4052   (this one is a bit cluttered but I like the tower form Canada in it)

And here are two nature shots from my yard.  grasshopper   and  Mushroom_slug

Thank you for the comments and

have a great photo day. ;)
