I just need to show that I do take more than just flower pictures, although they are my favorite. I was watching the cat for my children this past week and got some good pet pictures. We have a birdfeeder outside of our bay window and that was the cat's favorite entertainment.

Just a few Macro shots today.
I noticed this plant in my neighbors yard and thought about the challenge.
For years my Mom has fed the finches. Now that I am retired, I have a bird feeder outside of my sitting room window and I am feeding the finches.
On the Fourth in the afternoon we went out on the same lake that we observed the fireworks from. We first saw these swans flying and later ran into them on the water. They actually let us herd them with the boat.
I have a different camera this year so I decided to try fireworks again. Since I was on a boat taking the shots there was some movement. I know it would have been better to be on land with a tripod - I did use a monopod to sturdy it against my knee. How did I do?
Yesterday I was working on using a flower with a black background. Yes, it is a real flower from my garden, but I cut it and used a black cloth as a background. I just wanted to try something different. And then at about 3 in the afternoon the sky opened up and the electricity went off. We were then without power until about 1:30 AM and we had about five storms go through - waves of rain, hail, and high winds. Well, it is sunny today, so now I can show off my daisy.
It is a quiet Sunday afternoon here and I stepped out into the garden to view a few of my flowers. Just a couple of them here:

I have a little toad living in my garden. I have seen him probably a dozen times now, but finally got a picture of him this weekend. After all, he is a little jumpy. The first time I saw him, I almost stepped on him while shooting a flower. Now every once in awhile when I am out looking at my flowers, he just shows up and sticks around for awhile.
As you know, I love to look at small things in my environment, and also watch the flowers in my garden. I am working on making some more posters of some of the shots. The weather here has been cool and today it is quite gray, so I am working inside. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Thank you everyone for the retirement wishes. Give me a couple of weeks and I think that it will sink in. I will be doing some things part time at school yet, but no more full time teaching. I love my garden this year and can't wait to share more of it with you.
Today was the last day of school so it is the beginning of my retirement. I still have a few things to finish up in the classroom - cleaning and such - and then I can relax.
