New Years Eve 2009
Dear Photographica Friends, I did not forget about you, but there has been alot going on in my life that does not involve photography. I have taken pictures, but haven't gotten to posting them. My Father has been in various facilities for his health since February and now is in a nursing home. My Mom had major surgery in August and has recovered and is back in her apartment at the assisted living facility. My husband and I try to get her to visit Dad as often as she wants. Wim has had a few health issues that we are watching, but he is still working 3 days of the week. I have been volunteering at school two mornings of the week until I ended up at the end of October with a large deep vein blood clot in my leg. I am ready to again go back to school when the new year starts. We didn't get much traveling in this summer - just a quick trip to Iowa for a wedding in June. Mom and Dad take up a lot of our time, but we are so glad that we still have them here to share live with. Dad is 93 and Mom is 91. One of my goals for the new year is to get back to doing more photography, so I hope that I can share more with you. Lidljo
A Walk in a Desert Garden
When Wim and I were in Arizona we spent one day in the desert garden located in Phoenix/Scottsdale. The glass sculpture was done by Dale Chihuly. He is also going to add one of his sculptures to Frederick Meijer Garden's near us. We found them very colorful, and I will be posting more later. Arizona 21 Arizona 22 Arizona 23 Arizona 24
A National Forest of Cacti
Almost every day while in Arizona we tried to go see something special. I did not always take pictures - that would get boring for some people. One of the drives was to a national forest of cacti. I am not sure of the name so I am not posting it - maybe one of you southwest people can help me out. The big saguaro cacti do not grow arms until the are a hundred years old - that is what I was told. The native people treat the with great respect. Home Again and Cold
Dear Friends, Wim and I are home again - not even a week and we are having another snow storm. The trip across to Arizona and back was wonderful. We traveled HWY 10 from Tucson, AZ to Arkansa, and I never realized that Texas has so many different types of landscape. We loved SanAntonio - the Alamo and The River Walk. We also loved the saguaro cacti in the Tucson area. We made many interesting day trips in the Phoenix area, and also experienced the swap meet on two different occasions. I just picked a few random shots to show you today. Hope that you enjoy them. Oh, I broke my new camera in a fall while taking a picture - thae camera can be fix and my pride is healed. My skinned knee and hand are healing also.
Heading for Warmer Climate
Wim and I are on the road again. We are getting away from the cold and snow. We have been traveling along the old Route 66, but on new highways. Until this afternoon we were still in the cold weather and we have traveled from Michigan to New Mexico. This morning we started out at 16º and this afternoon it was 68º. We traveled today through freezing rain, snow, and wind blowing dust, then beautiful sunshine. My granddaughter had asked me to find a buffalo and take a picture of it. I found one poor buffalo in a pen, and two painted buffalo. AZ trip 1 AZ trip 2 AZ trip 3

Review of 2008
I have tried to capture bird shots for three years and finally managed to get some this year. Do You Think I Can Reach It
This is a different shot of a flower - more artistic than I usually do. Daisy Brush C
I really had to work at this night shot taken from a boat on I did use a monopod, but the boat was rocking. Fireworks 3
Those who know me know that I won a prize at the fair for a shot of a toad in a child's hand - I tried another version.
I take a lot of flower shots, but this was a different plant macro shot that I really worked at.
Just thought I would look back at this year as we begin a new year. Happy New Year everyone at Photographica.
I Can Take Other Pictures
I just need to show that I do take more than just flower pictures, although they are my favorite. I was watching the cat for my children this past week and got some good pet pictures. We have a birdfeeder outside of our bay window and that was the cat's favorite entertainment.
Fourth of July Swans...
Fourth of July Fireworks
I have a different camera this year so I decided to try fireworks again. Since I was on a boat taking the shots there was some movement. I know it would have been better to be on land with a tripod - I did use a monopod to sturdy it against my knee. How did I do?
