Well..

Anyway, due to the loss of two things I've anxiously anticipated for over a month [the shipping from Russia to here took THAT long] I was a little too bummed out to take pictures. So I just decided to throw in two leftovers from this week. I hope you like them.
Lomo Pics

The last one I used my photoshop plug-in melancholytron to add some vignetting.
A Study in Natural Lighting .... and LOMO

The rooms are pretty dark - in keeping with the Civil War'ish time period - so these shots are my attempt to balance the natural light coming through the windows with the flash to get a balanced shot. Here's a couple that I thought were worth sharing.
Then, all this LOMO talk got me thinking of giving them a more vintage look. So here are those.
Finally, a couple was sharing a romantic afternoon - so I shot 'em.

Lilbit O LOMO

One of them is LOMO. LOMO is named after a quirky Russian camera that has a bit of a cult following. It's is characterized by vignetting in the corners, Bold colors and soft focus toward the edges. It is done with a LOMO camera but can be reproduced using Photoshop as I have done here. So here is some LOMO for Lil

This set of pictures was taken over the course of a few days this winter, and they are some of my favorite pictures. I took them while walking around and doing what I do every day, trying to notice new things.
Here is the gallery. It contains 11 images.
All of there photos were processed using my own variation on Redscreen.Net's Lomo Effect.

My New Lomo

And that's what I got- a Lomo. A Cosmic Symbol lomo, direct from the Ukraine, circa 1982(?). It's 100% manual, no batteries needed. The viewfinder is a plastic window, so you can't tell if you're focusing properly or not.
Today I wandered around my backyard shooting a test roll, making careful notes of all the settings. Out of 40(!) shots on the 36 roll exposure, I thought the following were decent.

Mountain view
Park view
Lawn furniture
Fruit tree
The manual focus generated some interesting effects. This banyan tree's branches look almost ghostly, due to the focus being set for the leaves. And this water lily, although out of focus (I wanted to see just how close I could get!) looks rather artistic.
