When the Sun Goes Down at Arches

By enigmaticfaerie written 8/27/08 6:30 PM, published 8/28/08 7:30 AM

We had some of the clearest and most beautiful nights while at Arches.  I think out of all the campsites it's the only place that we didn't get rained on every night we were there.  And because of this clear beautiful evening sky, we got clear beautiful sunsets.  Here are 3 of my favorite sunset shots from Arches.

1   2   3

More Arches tomorrow and then I believe we will start our final state of my three week trip next week.  Hope I've at least lived up to some high expectations as of right now.  We still have 2 more stops to go!

Greetings

You Have Been MOONED

By HeatherShade written 8/19/06 6:37 AM, published 8/19/06 6:37 AM
I love the moon. Aurooooo! I am kinda obsessed with the subject. In fact, I have shot every single Full Moon going back to 2002 (don't worry- I am not going to make you all look at ALL of them, heheh) But, wanna see a few of my fave moon pics? Lookie...

This one is a bright Popup LinkFull Snow Moon, caught juuuust as it was rising over the Texas desert. And not a flake of snow in sight. Hmmpph.

And here is a stark Popup LinkFull Cold Moon. It WAS Winter... but it wasn't all that cold when I shot this. Alas.

Here is one of Spring's beauties- a luminous Popup LinkFull Flower Moon. I liked how it almost resembled a big, irridescent pearl caught in the sky.

This is a spooky one- a glowing ghostly Popup LinkFull Frost Moon. It was rising behind the tree, but somehow appeared to be snagged in the very branches themselves. Weird, eh?

This one wasn't full, but it was pretty... Popup Linkpeeking through the pines in all it's bright, moonlight-y glory.

And finally, here is a shot of a Popup Linkfull-on lunar eclipse in progress, showing off in the night sky above the twinkling lights of my hometown (El Paso, TX)

If anyone is interested in knowing the names of each month's full moon let me know, I will list them here for you. Hope you all enjoyed this bit of Luna-cy...

Home From Iowa

We arrived home safe from Iowa this evening.  Thank you for your comments on the pictures I have been posting.  I will try to make comments and view your posts this week.  Here are a few more scenes from Iowa.  We saw lots of Popup Linkcorn since we were living right in the middle of a corn field for a week.  We literally could see the corn growing - the fellows measured it each day.  We watched the Popup Linkmoon each evening as it grew to a full moon - Sunday night was full moon.  We also watched many Popup Linksunsets, Popup LinkSunset 2,  Popup LinkSunset 3, Popup Linksunset 4
We visited Pella, Iowa on one of our side trips.  You saw a view through the blue window in my last post and here is Popup Linkanother view through that same window

Good Friday

We have had dark clouds and now sun and fluffy clouds.  It has been a good day in the low 70's.  I came home after school to find a whole lot of new stuff that had opened or emerged.

Thursday Night

Last night the moon was clear so I asked my husband to help me set up his camera outdoors and we took several pictures of the moon.  I took some and he took some - unfortunately I lost track of who took what.  This is one of them.
