Welcome to Semarang

Went to Semarang (Central Java, Indonesia) two weeks ago, to work. Taking care of all the logistics needed by a group of photographers and filmmakers. And I did my own shots ;).

We visit old buildings there. The first one was a house.

I didn't find any interesting things inside, but outside, parked an old car.

And there's another one, parked behind the house,

Popup Linkand it has the latest style for car doors...

We spent our whole morning there, then off to lunch.
The restaurant where we had lunch is located just out of town, with a very nice view to the city. That's why the restaurant provided binoculars for people to look at the city...

The food was also great, by the way.

Then we off to the second house, at Semarang's old town.
The old town of Semarang is in poor condition. Its height is lower than the sea, so it keeps on flooding now and then. It looks really sad.

In the old town, we met a street food vendor. She sells home made food in front of what looked like an abandoned building. It turned out she lived in it, in one of the corridor. But the rest of it is empty.

We walked around the old town for a while, until we decided it's time for coffee. So we went to another place near the old town. It's basically built on an aqueduct, to prevent more flooding.

We finish the day by visiting a traditional market.
While we went inside the market to hunt for pictures, I found a woman who sells...

Popup Link snacks of any kinds.

And also a very typical store we called "kelontong" in bahasa. There aren't many of those in Jakarta anymore. They sell everything! I bought my soap here, an antique chinese razor for my husband, and a harmonica for my nephew.

Popup Linksee? this place has all.
