Geez... more B&W?

By kharney0213 written 4/1/08 10:13 AM, published 5/4/08 1:09 PM
To me photography is a way to show others what we photographers see, so what better subject than the images I see as I go to work, class or in general messing around. So, in a few short pictures boys and girls you can now see, what I see on a daily basis...

I thought I would practice on some of the flowers on display there. Please keep in mind I am just learning this photography thing, so please be kind in your reviews..

In Memoriam of Summer

By tditzgb written 11/27/07 8:59 AM, published 11/27/07 8:59 AM
I woke up to a howling wind and snow on the ground for the first time today and had to face the fact that Summer is long gone. So, in memory of the warm season, I thought I'd share a photo from the early part of Summer when thewild orchid blooms grace the Ridges Sanctuary on Wisconsin's Door Co. Peninsula.

Isn't this Fall weather wonderful.  At least here in Michigan we have really been blessed with some great weather.  They say that later this week we may break some records again.  Here are a few more flowers from our recent trip to Meijer Gardens.

hey all! it's been a little while as i've been sick an entire week! i found out my medications were "tainted". i got a "bad batch" in a refill, and they made me horribly ill (i'm dependent on this medication); so now it's getting sent off to the company it originated for findings to go to the FDA. fun times :P

feeling a wee better this morning i noticed some of our orchids were in full bloom. i decided to capture them!

Another Orchid

This is the first bloom since I brought this plant home three years ago! Orchid growing does teach patience, which isn't bad for photographers, either.

You never know who you are going to meet on a long trip. Here is a long story to introduce you to my new friends.

First off we came upon Mr Cat who was annoyed that we bothered him Cat Stare
His cousin, Rot Wiler, Just wanted to nap. DSC09313 They had many neighbors, some were curious, others, well....
 Cat Barn
My own close friend, Tigger (yeah another one) found someone that wanted to know 'What in the world are you!?'
Snail/Cat
Old Donk, now he thought that was a hoot!Ol Donk
When we caught up with hard case turt, well he stuck up his nose and stayed in his house Turtle
His neighbor, Al Gate, thought he'd ignore us by making like a log Smiling log By this time we were getting a little nutty, so we thought we'd speak to the squirrels Squirrel That made me realize that I really was off, now I was seeing BLACK Squirrels!!!Black Squirel
I figured praying might help a bit, so I went to see preacher "Praying" Man.   Mantis       He told me that maybe I should go to Custer Park, so I did and met a "deer" friend Deer 2 We had a nice time and she told me to go see Buff A. Low Buffalo I asked Buff; 'What do you do in Custer Park?' He said; 'Anything I want to!' (Groan.)
Hope y'all didn't get bored and go away, I know there were a lot of pics, just couldn't help myself. not an orchid. no.

Beach Travels

OK, it might be a beautiful work of architechture once it is done, but Beachfront Construction at Fort Lauderdale perturbs me - the noise, the trash, the unsightliness of it all!

Since kids are always on the lookout for a great shell, rock, or jellyfish, Beaches make great babysitters!

Water Sports are fun for both participants and spectators!

In Miami Beach, you can find these dangly little things, Orchids, I believe.

Nature's Inspiring Lines

By sjwart written 5/22/07 5:54 PM, published 5/22/07 5:54 PM
Sometimes nature is offering up wonderful scenery for us to admire.

High Dune in Sand Dunes National Park
A view to the Maroon Bells through the fall aspen
Grand Prismatic Hot Pool in Yellowstone
Grand Teton at sunset

Sometimes we see it and sometimes we don't.  Finding interesting shapes and lines in nature is how you gain the greater appreciation. In order to see them you have to slow down, breath and take a little time to really look at what surrounds you.  As an artist I believe once you teach someone to see the shapes and lines that naturally exist in our environment you can teach anyone to remember them and then paint it."

loss

By mercedes written 5/16/07 11:05 AM, published 5/16/07 11:05 AM
well I saw this challenge and thought how perfect. Just before Mother's Day, I came home and it just felt like someone had been there. So after looking around I found nothing missing, nothing but my Nikkon D 50 and my video camera. What a horrible feeling to know someone has been in your house taking your favorite thing. At least my son and I weren't home. Oh well, what can you do? Just move on I guess.  Peaceorchid rain

We didn't just chase waterfalls, we also visited the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.  What a great trip.  Difficult to get really good pix thru glass and water, but these are pretty good.
