here's some more for the challenge. I took a short walk and found these  hiding trees . also some fallen trees .

magnolia buds are pretty, even if not fully blooming. the leaves always look plastic to me.

not for the challenge, but here's a  grapes update . they're looking better but not quite ripe yet.

I took a walk down a trail on the Natchez trace and found that i like to shoot outdoors in nature a lot. I also am really looking forward to getting some texture shots for this new challenge. Like my last story all ideas and suggestions are very welcome and thanks for the previous ones they were very helpful. :)

This shot is of aPopup Linkbridge on the trail.

I found i could capture some texture in this photo but i could get the Popup Linkbutterfly
to show up better with the natural light.

This is my first close up of a Popup LinkFlowerwith my SLR.

This next photo i used my
Popup Linkfriend in the picture of this wooden bridge i thought it was cool.

Got the film (!) back the other day and examined the photos, most were less then so-so.  (The light meter died right off, the apature was sluggish/sticking, a light leak (?), and I kept forgetting to wind the film.)

Popup LinkA couple weeks early (too much DOF)

Popup LinkAn attempt at closeups (foucs is off too much)

Popup LinkGotcha (passable)

And we experienced Popup Linka fly by shooting.

I think I'll buy a new battery and hope the apature loosens up, then try it again sometime.  (Olumpus OM-1, just guessing at shutter/apature.)

my Husband took the back roads home.  So I could take some pictures.  Oh and we do still have a lot of dirt roads around here.  I enjoyed the ride because he was actually pointing out stuff for me to shoot.  Like this Popup Linkfield and sign and this  Popup Linksnowy river.  I was a beautiful day and a nice drive.  I took several shots of this  Popup Linkold red  Popup Linkschool  Popup Linkhouse.  I liked the way this  Popup Linklittle old barn and these  Popup Linkbright red berries looked in the snow.  Then as we got closer to home, which has become Popup LinkAmish country we could tell it was Popup Linkchurch day for them.  No matter what road we went down we saw them in their buggies. Dressed in their Sunday best.  Every day but Sunday they wear dark colors.  On Sunday they wear light colors.  The men wear white shirts with vests and the women wear light colored dresses with white bonnets.  Hope you enjoyed the ride down the back roads.

A bad sign.

I came across another bad winter sign yesterday. This Popup LinkHornet Nest is about 15 feet up in the pine tree. The old addage is that the higher the hornets build their nest, the more harsh the winter will be.

Also like the color that the Popup LinkHawthorne Berries added to the now drab scenery.

I was out to the lake again today, as usual, and came across a few lingering Popup LinkGolden Leaves and a Popup LinkFallen Red Leaf.

I came across this not so unusual piece of  Popup LinkFisherman's Luck or maybe lack thereof.

And then as I walked back to the truck, this Popup LinkOld Car came into the parking lot. As I took a shot of it, the guy gave me a thumbs up and drove away. When I got home and looked closely at the photo, the guy driving has an amazing resemblance to Stephen King. Maybe I'm reading too many books, too many movies.....maybe it wasn't even real.

Sometimes you get a subject that is just willing to have fun letting you take pics of them.  I had that happen recently.  These are pics of my cousins little girl.  Boy did she ham it up!  We had fun!  I didn't tell her what to do at all she just did everything on her own.  So I snapped away.  Enjoy!

Ok, so Bacon and I went to Bidwell Park , and the Pig wanted to Popup LinkDrive. The pig went into the park the Popup LinkWrong Way   so I had to take the wheel and park the car. Bacon Fat got very angey and wanted to call a cab and go  Popup LinkHome..BUT THE BOX WAS LOCKED..but that didn't stop  Popup LinkHim ..he's kinda pig headed. When that failed he got moody and wanted to be Popup LinkAlone. Soon the sound of the rushing water beckoned him for a closer Popup LinkLook. I told him it was to cold to swim, and there was no lifeguard on Popup LinkDuty  but being the good pig he is, he wanted to make sure no one  Popup LinkDrowned While he was catching some rays I split and took some shots of the park... Okay folks, after that fiasco last night, I'll get back to normal.

I took a walk on the Mary Ann Furnace trail this a.m. and picked up a few signs of the upcoming winter, at least according to Grandma Wolf.

The acorns this year are large Popup LinkAcorn Bad Sign.

I don't know when I have seen a Black Walnut this size  Popup LinkBlack Walnut Bad Sign.

The outer hull on the Hickory Nuts is already black  Popup LinkHickory Nut Bad Sign

The outer hull on the Shellbark is thicker than I have seen in a long time Popup LinkShellbark Hull Bad Sign

But! The Wooly Worm tells me to not worry about it. Winter will be harsh in the beginning and mild throughout the remainder. Popup LinkWooly Worm 1 Popup LinkWooly Worm 2

I might mention here also that no creatures were maimed, mutilated, killed or harmed in any way during the photo shoot for this post.

A walk on the Laho Trail

Yesterday I took a walk on the Laho Trail by Lake Marburg. Walking alone in the woods gives much time for thinking, and my thoughts turned to what we who post on this page have in common. Love of photography of course, but, I also thought of our eyesight. What a gift. How could I ever explain to a blind person the beauty I see before me?

I hope you enjoy this gallery of my walk. Much of what you see is just weeds, but the only difference between a weed and a flower is the judgment of man.
