"Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly." Langston Hughes
(This bird is an injured bird that was being held in a cage at a local nature center)
Rocky-know what this is? (or anyone else!)
Thanks for looking!

And the poet said, Speak to us of Beauty.
And he answered: IMG_0474
Where shall you see beauty, and how shall you find her
unless she herself be your way and guide? IMG_0477
And how shall you speak of her except
she be the weaver of your speech? IMG_0478
Be not afraid for Beauty is of the Tree of Life.
Who grows and changes before us, is born and thus dies.
I am newly born as a *** IMG_0769 copy.jpg ***
In the arms of the darkest plant
between the piercing thorns
Now..sleeping so silently…
.
Dreaming for a warm embrace.
With the desire for a softest touch..
And dew drops on pale eye brows
guarded by knife like thorns!!”

Hi
I haven't posted any photos here for a long time but now I'm back with some pictures from a short trip to Sri Lanka:

I work in Manhattan on 35th St and 7th Avenue and the photos that follow are from my lunchtime one hour walks. Howie, my buddy of twenty years is usually walking with us. The photos are snap shots but I have tried to make them as creative as possible.
Manhattan is a lonely place if you allow it to be. I don’t believe in the stereotypes of people being alone in a crowd. Today Chester met some friendly people, had conversations with them, asked their names and generally made them happy to have met him.Life is short, Chester has only 30 days with me, so Chester and I are living on the edge, expanding the boundaries, getting to talk to all the pretty girls on the street.

A slideshow, let me know if you can see this, if you can't the photos are on my dashboard.
Here goes my two cents worth... can you guess the title of this very popular song? IMG_1426 It's very easy actually!

I was hoping to catch some great fall colors, but I was too busy the 2 weekends when the fall colors were at their peak, so I didn't get any nice color shots. Here are some shots, I finally got to mess with a bit. No elk shots this time, just buffalo.

Thanks for looking! Have a great Afternoon! :o)

I am the eagle, I live in high country
In rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky.
I am the hawk and there's blood on my feathers.
But time is still turning, they soon will be dry.
And all those who see me, and all who believe in me
Share in the freedom I feel when I fly.
Come, dance with the west wind and touch the mountain tops, Sail o'er the canyons and up to the stars.
And reach for the heavens and hope for the future
All that we can be, and not what we are.
John Denver - The Eagle And The Hawk
Please excuse "Have You Seen This Latest Picture of My Grandson" but I just couldn't help myself.

Been sifting through yet MORE of my shots from the best part of autumn, geez, you hardly need to take photos in the slow months with all the backlog.
First up are some Christmassey holly shots: one and two.
I also need opinions on some slightly weirder shots! I think this is the remains of some flower, it looks kind of like a spider - I did two shots: one head on, and one with more perspective.
Thanks for looking as always!
I am absolutely loving my new camera. The hard part now is picking which shots to post, I like them all! Here is my son enjoying an autumn stroll through the leaves, and I cannot decide which I like best.
And just because I love his curiosity, "put them back on?"
I found this quote from poet Henry Van Dyke this morning & I thought I'd share it, seemed fitting.
"Use the talents you possess-for the woods would be a very silent place if no birds sang except for the best."
