Snag-It + Google Street View=This Post
Google is bringing a new technology to their maps; they call it "Street View". Well, I used a piece of software(Snag-It) to capture pictures from Google Maps with the "Street View" layer activated.
Here's a coal train
A street in Chicago at the loop
Now, this is kinda cool but kinda creepy as well...check it, you house could be on Google Maps soon...Anyway, since I didn't need any talent to make this work your comments will be interesting... ("at the loop" is mislabeled, sorry guys...Oh I like the changes to the site...cool...peace...
LOCAL SCENES & PEOPLE
This set is made up of recent shots of local sites and people of special interest to me. Some of the people have expressions that give some clue about them, at least I think so.
Surfers wait for the big one, with Los Angeles Harbor in background, some 8 to 10 miles distance
Ocean view houses along Pacific Coast Hwy, all one needs is at least $1.5 million
At Bolsa Chica preserve, I believe this is a Black Crowned Heron, amazing red eyes
Another view of the heron, seemed very elusive
Visiting Texas pal who seems not to believe my tall tales
Mrs BB, a/k/a The General. Her look gives away her great patience, putting up with me for 55 years
Buildings, streets and some misc.
I think I'm gonna make this my last installment of China shots; after all, I'll be there long enough to make y'all sick of seeing shots from there. I've never been to NY, but I imagine the city scape in China to be somewhat like that. The skyscrapers are phenominal....and there's SO MANY of them! Here's a look at some of them, also some things you'll find on lots of streets.
While I was there, I did see a few comical things. We had been to KFC one day and were waiting on the driver to come and pick us up when I saw this
duck following a motorcycle down the street! Bless it's heart, it was running so fast to keep up....the man didn't acknowledge
it at all; he just kept on going. At least other vehicles didn't hit it.
A lot of the streets there allow U turns to be made.....and a lot don't. I guess knowing which is which is important.....we got pulled over one day for making an illegal U turn. Not only did we get pulled over, but the car behind us did, too. Over there, the cops get the driver out of the car. So.....here I am, with nothing to do, waiting for them to get done when the idea hits me.....man, get your camera out! These were taken from the back seat

2. Our fiasco didn't turn out too badly....the cop had forgotten his ticket book, so we got off scott free! Whew! We all got a good laugh out of that!
I hope y'all have enjoyed our "trip". Like I said, there'll be plenty more.....
You work....then you rest
While I was in China, I didn't see the first lazy person. I saw a culture intent on making a living in any way they could. Some of the housing I showed you yesterday belonged to some of the hard workers I saw.....and it sickened me to know they bust their butt and can't afford to do any better than they were. I just wanted to reach out to them and tell them there's a better way.....my hubby figures I'll get in all sorts of trouble with my mouth when we get over there; I hope he's wrong, but I've never been one to keep quiet for very long about something that bothers me. This post I'll share some of the workers I saw with you.
When you get tired, you rest

The Wonderful Newtonburg Band
To hear a good old brass band.
The one we were gonna be hearin’
Is the wonderful
There were other folks there to enjoy ‘em
On
blankets and also on
chairs.
The members all pitched in to
setup
As soon as the whole band was there.
The band then changed into their
costumes
From four score and six years ago.
They sat down and
started up playin'
The grand notes all sweetly did flow.
With eyes closed I started to ponder
The simpler days long gone by
When parks were all filled every Sunday
For
music in the heat of July.
The
tuba would boom like the thunder,
The
piccolo tweet like a bird,
The
trombones' glissandos were gorgeous,
The
clarinets notes could be heard.
The
leader was tellin’ some jokes now,
And
all seemed to be so sublime.
The
old men were dancin’ and prancin’
And havin’ a wonderful time.
I was snorin’ when somebody nudged me
To bring me back from the past
To
kids being pushed by their daddies
And folks
sittin' out on the grass.
I knew I’d been sleepin’ and dreamin’
But oh, it was certainly grand
For the chance to
dream and to
listen
To the
Wonderful Newtonburg Band.
old.....too. And, finally, that's all.
