Through my wife's eyes

By tucana25 written 2/7/08 9:37 PM, published 2/12/08 1:29 PM
When my wife and I had the holiday party last weekend, we shared the camera. I borrowed it for a while to shoot the church across the street.  I thought I'd share a few of her pictures.  We got a lot of shots between the two of us, and I thought I'd share some of my favorite ones that she shot.

This is her boss, mo.

I want to do a series of people drinking out of straws...I have a theory that it is impossible to look 'tough' drinking out of a straw.  In any case, here is me: ty_straw

On the way home, we were stopped next to one of my favorite murals: the love_power church.

Recent Images of Anna

By tomnorth written 8/19/06 2:14 PM, published 8/19/06 2:14 PM

We've been eating outdoors as much as possible lately.  Here in Minnesota we know that we have to take advantage of these opportunities.  I captured some Popup Linkimages of Anna on the front porch after dinner.  I like how the light brought out Popup Linkthe highlights of her face and neck. I also like how her hand is somewhat mirroring the hand of the crazy Danish mermaid on her t-shirt. These images were captured after she had worn out her poses.  I usually find that the best shots I get of people are after they're done posing.

      Happy Day To All!

Um, portraits? LOL COMMENTS PLEASE!!!

By Reilly3079 written 7/7/06 5:07 PM, published 7/7/06 5:07 PM

I have been tasked by my oldest child, the Sweet and Lovely Amanda to take her Senior Pictures! Ouch, okay I have been purchasing books on the subject and purchased the 85mm telephoto from Canon. (Ritz Camera has an Express Lane for me now) So on the Sunday before the 4th of July I packed all the kids plus one into the Subaru and headed to of all places, BOSTON. Ugh, no offense to the city dwellers here, but give me the sticks anyday! LOL We had a great day though even though I had a sprained ankle and walked 10 miles at least. (ouch....any doctors here? LOL) Continuing on, I found a beautiful spot in the Boston Public Gardens and saw this limb leaning over a fountain pool. So I asked the Popup LinkSweet and Lovely Amanda to lean slightly on it, she is easy to take pictures of. Then I decided that The Dashing Preston and the Handsome Donovan step over and I would take a  Popup Linkgroup shot. Well, the boys and their plus one had come along to impress the natives of Boston with the skateboarding skills, so here is the  Popup Linkmotley crew posing for me. Well it had been a long enough day and dad was in pain (ankle remember?) so we took the subway back to the car and I took this photo of  Popup LinkThe Sweet and Lovely Amanda in the Subway This was my first attempt at portraits and I welcome ALL COMMENTS. I am nervous about the Senior Photos deal. Well next post I will show my first attempt at Fireworks. Take care All, Jamey

Traces......

I'm finally getting around to doing some theme work...... Popup Linkspent Popup Linklot of miles

I also did some portrait photography this weekend.  I haven't done a lot of this type of work, or, should I say, I haven't tried to be serious about it.  I just thought I'd try it to see how I could do if I set my mind to it.  Popup Linkgetting Popup Linkserious

Y'all know I've had a boat load of dust on my sensor.  I was at my wits end today, and thought I'd try something.  I have a glass cleaning cloth that I got from my optometrist; I just remembered that today.  So, I got to thinking about it, and those kind of cloths don't attract dust.....so.....I committed a cardinal sin today.  I set my camera to "clean sensors", used the cloth on it, and got almost all of my spots off.  Mind you, I was scared to death; I was very gentle and cleaned it twice that way.  Anyway, I feel better about taking photos now......maybe I won't have to spend HOURS in Adobe removing so many spots.....Popup Linkbefore Popup Linkafter The last shot still has some dust, like I said, but I can live with it.

Sorry this is such a long post.....I only have two more shots for you....

Yesterday we took our grandson, Wallace, on his first boat ride..Thought that he might be just a little scared and not move too much in the boat....well, he was not apprehensive at all.  He really thought he was doing something when pappaw let him 'drive' the boat.  I wish I could have gotten his expression on everything he saw, but was not able..he really enjoyed looking at the depth finder and seeing the fish that were in the area.

Location Portraits

I had an Assignment to do a location portrait, showing the subjects personality by the location and the things around them.  So I picked on my wife again and took this portrait of her in her scrapbook room.  Popup LinkScrappy Then I softened it in photoshop, I liked it but she says her skin is pale in Popup Linkthis one.  My dog also uses her scrapbook room, she likes to lay in front of the south facing sliding door to do some Popup Linksunbathing, but she gets  mad when you interupt her  Popup LinkReading time.

Playing Photo Studio

By jojames1 written 2/13/06 5:35 AM, published 2/13/06 5:35 AM

Well, I usually go to Wal-Mart to print my pictures.  They are cheap and fast.  So this weekend, I started working on my portfolio...and they wouldn't let me have my pictures.  WHAT??  When I came back the next day to complain...(I was too tired to argue Friday night)...they handed me my pics, no questions asked.  When I told them of the night before...the lab tech told me "Yes, but we recognize your work on first shift."  Now, I have to put my name on the bottom of my pics, put a letter on their file, and give letters to my friends to print their pics!!

Now...I need your help.  This weekend, a friend of mind (who has recently lost 197 lbs) let me take some photos of her.  Help me pick which one to put into my new portfolio!

I find a good Popup Linksmile is just this side of a full-blown laugh.  Anna is always ready with a Popup Linkgood smile. She also has an incredibly hearty laugh for a little kid.

Meet Madeline/Melissa by Eva Helland. This doll is a silicone LTE (limited edition) of 25 dolls world wide. In my opnion this doll makes a beautiful baby boy ;) which is what I have been shooting it as, I plan to add some girl shots (one included in this set here) to this baby's portfolio later on, but so far, this baby has been lovingly renamed 'Morgan' and resides as a beautiful baby boy in my bedroom! This doll is not for sale.

Thank you for looking!
~ Nina
