Huaco Tanks is a pile of rocks in the middle of the desert.  People have been drawn here for thousands of years because the huacos/tanks trap water.  Today it's a magnet for rock climbers and for people like me who are facinated by ancient rock art. There are some 2000 paintings at Huaco Tanks.

Three Rivers Petroglyphs, New Mexico

I spent the last week walking around the south eastern corner of New Mexico.  So, guess where I'll be taking you for the next few days!

Three Rivers is an amazing place because it's open and un-like so many parks, there are no barriers between the visitor and the petroglyphs.  There's no "tour" either, so you can spend as much or as little time as you wish wandering around the boulders.
