I worked night shift at the Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and each morning I stepped out the door to a view of Norfolk skyline across the water. Everyday there was something new to shoot there.  Here are some early morning shots

More race photos.  I tried using auto settings, some sports settings, and not using my flash.  I am teaching myself the manual settings but am not sure what to use for action shots outside.  The day started very overcast but was bright by the end.  Add in shadows from the rowhouse stores around the square and there were even more shadows.  Suggestions are appreciated.  So are comments.

Out and About in Yellowstone

Still fishing through all my shots and came up with a few that I thought were intersting (not particularly great), but hey what can I say.

Took the kids fishing a couple of days and boy they just wouldn't cooperate. This was a tough shot because of all the shadows (and the fact that my subject is 8 and doesn't stand still)Popup Link You said there'd be fish Dad.

Saw this wolf running across the road on our way back to camp. This is the best I got with the camera set to "AutoPict" at night, handheld, and having a van full of kids screaming "A wolf! A wolf!". Popup Link Little Red Riding Hood Still, I like the double exposure feel.

Mascot

Our college Mascot at Arkansas State was the Indians.  We've seen a lot of changes over the years.  When I started college in 1990, we had Running (Fighting)Joe.  This was a carciture indian running with a hatchet.  This created quite a stir and lots of controversy.

By 1992, they had taken away the hatchet and made him Jumping Joe.  Still a carcicature, but "less" offensive.

By 1995, we had a guy dressed as a more authentic indian with a maiden and horse.

It's not so much I disagree with the changes, but I miss the cartoonish character of my youth.  Here's my homage to Running Joe.

It's very hard to take pictures on a trip when your a prisoner of someone else's time schudule and stopping to take a snapshot is not going to workout. They thought I was nuts to start off with when I was caught taking time...their time..to take a shot of trash on the side of the road.   Popup Linkcaught. Then when I got sometime to myself and tried to get a shot of the little dogs running around they keep me at bay by the bark of a look-out. Popup Linkbarking head.I sat there for an hour and these guy's would not come out to play ..due to their warning system...and only having a 300mm lens with me The one's 400 yards away were hard to have a shake..less shot. So I was able to get a couple of shots and here are two that I finished late last night after flying in. Popup Linkwheels and  Popup LinkGold Cart.. but I'll get to other pictures as soon as I'm my own person again

An evening at Marianne's house

By Just Jen written 6/19/05 10:13 AM, published 6/19/05 10:13 AM

I went to Manteca to visit my friend Marianne. We were planning a dinner party the next evening with some friends. Before we could get started she had to put her son Logan to bed. This included a bath. After his bath he was Popup Linkrunning around the house so I decided to get a few shots of him.

While he was being put to bed, I decided to take a few shots around the house.

Celebrate Commemorate Memorial Day 2005 in Waterloo NY

Here are some of the 200+ photos I took in less than the 50 minute span of the race. We start with the Popup Linkregistration process. Keep that glowing number in mind, because the next time we see it is for first place at the Popup Linkfinish line. The same boy led the entire race, except for the race Popup Linkescorts. I definitly had some admiration for the people in this race, especially this older woman for running with the kids Popup Link .

I tried to get pictures from the race that showed their surroundings, but still had the emphasis on the person. Popup LinkWoman Popup LinkBoy . And Lastly, a Popup Linkgroup shot I just liked the quality of.
Enjoy, and let me know what you think!
Thanks,
