Student Show

By enigmaticfaerie written 5/15/08 9:16 AM, published 5/15/08 9:16 AM

Well, I was going to show you my last 4 shots from the zoo today.  But there's a data monster in the system that won't allow me to insert the images into the story I've written (I'm officially using the draft to it's fullest extent because I will keep that draft until I get those images fixed).

Instead I'll show you guys the three images I have hanging in the gallery at MTSU in our student show(April 20-June 26).

I selected, printed and matted these three for the show.  The top one I've gotten so many compliments and Norton himself asked me to make a print of it for him.

So.... I'm officially in a gallery.  How exciting!

I want to thank everyone on here for their kind words and encouragment during the year and a half I've been here.  Have a great Thursday!

Last of the school stuff

By enigmaticfaerie written 5/2/08 2:08 PM, published 5/2/08 2:08 PM

School is over (for the semester). I made it through with most of my sanity and a 4.0! W00t!

For this final slideshow of my pottery, I took final tea sets into the light studio with my D200 and took some shots with the strobes.

Tea sets

  • My goal in pottery was to make 3-4 tea sets. 2 of which being a traditional Japanese style, one white, one black, with a low temperature firing and quick reduction (cooling with little oxygen) process, also known as raku firing. The other two were of a Turkish style and done with a normal high temperature cone 10 firing (the typical firing for ceramics). All are functional and every bit made by me.

Thanks for looking, comments, criticisms, suggestions, encouragement and congrats.

The First Time

Remember the first time your child started preschool.  Or your baby starting preschool.  Well today my Popup Linkyoungest daughter went to her Popup Linknew school to meet the teacher.  The first thing that caught my daughter's Popup Linkeyes was the large gate.  She was so impressed by the large iron gate that she wanted to play with all of the toys behind it.  So we are off to meet the teacher.  My Popup Linkdaughter and I.

Do you remember your first day of school?

It is that time of year again.  Yes, the time when the school buses runs, the bell rings, and football is in the air.  Today is more than that for two little girls in my house.  One little one startsPopup Linkher first day of school, Popup LinkKindergarten.  It is a big day for  Popup Linkher and I think she is a little scared.  Today is also a big day for my oldest  Popup Linkdaughter.  She is going into the  Popup Linksecond grade.  New school and new classmates this year for this little  Popup Linkgal.

Before leaving for school the two oldest girls had a little  Popup Linkfun.  The oldest daughter got the last  Popup Linklaugh in.  Two sisters starting their Popup Linkday right! The littlest one doesn't understand why she is not going to Popup Linkschool today.  She starts in one more week.

The time is near.  It is almost time to go.   Popup Linkmy kindergartener is ready to go.  I first take my oldest to school while my husband takes our kindergartner and waits by the park for me.  I think Popup Linkwe have a proud daddy here while walking our daughter to the gym to wait for her teacher.

Another day, another year, another great year in the making.

signs of history.......

By jellybean written 4/2/06 8:32 AM, published 4/2/06 8:32 AM
I am a history nut, especially since I'm now teaching American History to high schoolers.  So my signs are mostly of points in history.

First I have some signs from Arlington Cemetary.  We wandered around until we saw Popup Linkthis.  It was amazing how quiet it was there even with hundreds of people walking around and watching.  Then I saw this Popup Linksign.  Next we walked through this area and I see this Popup Linkmonument  as a sign.

Then I needed something fun and humorous to look at.  So I went down to the local marina and caught Popup Linkthese guys.  Think they listened??????

This sign is in a Popup Linkclassroom at our high school.  I was asked to photograph a student's promotion ceramony.  I wonder if the kids really listen to the pledge they are making when they state this objective......

Then this is the final one.  We collect pictures of this for a class we are Popup Linkteaching.

So what did you think??

I was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with New York Institute of Photography. I thought about signing up for this just to brush up on my skills I have lost! I want to learn more. I have done some looking into this correspondence school and it seems pretty legit. Anyone have any comments??
