The Wonderful Newtonburg Band

By Pyro43 written 7/15/06 6:00 PM, published 7/15/06 6:00 PM
We went to the park just last Thursday
To hear a good old brass band.
The one we were gonna be hearin’
Is the wonderful Popup LinkNewtonburg Band.

There were other folks there to enjoy ‘em
On Popup Linkblankets and also on  Popup Linkchairs.
The members all pitched in to Popup Linksetup
As soon as the whole band was there.

The band then changed into their Popup Linkcostumes
From four score and six years ago.
They sat down and Popup Linkstarted up playin'
The grand notes all sweetly did flow.

With eyes closed I started to ponder
The simpler days long gone by
When parks were all filled every Sunday
For Popup Linkmusic in the heat of July.

The Popup Linktuba would boom like the thunder,
The Popup Linkpiccolo tweet like a bird,
The Popup Linktrombones' glissandos were gorgeous,
The Popup Linkclarinets notes could be heard.

The Popup Linkleader was tellin’ some jokes now,
And Popup Linkall seemed to be so sublime.
The Popup Linkold men were dancin’ and prancin’
And havin’ a wonderful time.

I was snorin’ when somebody nudged me
To bring me back from the past
To Popup Linkkids being pushed by their daddies
And folks Popup Linksittin' out on the grass.

I knew I’d been sleepin’ and dreamin’
But oh, it was certainly grand
For the chance to Popup Linkdream and to Popup Linklisten
To the Popup LinkWonderful Newtonburg Band.

old.....too. And, finally, that's all.

Falling Down

By cathelle written 3/25/06 4:42 PM, published 3/25/06 4:42 PM
I finally gained limited permission to walk over this bit of property that is absolutely filled with Popup Linkbuildings and old Popup Linktrucks. My access is limited only because they are afraid that the buildings might Popup Linkcollapse, but I am permitted to return any time I like.

I found a lot of old equipment Popup Link1,  Popup Link2, and  Popup Link3. Some things are at least familiar Popup Linkantique ringer washer, Popup Linkoven 1? Popup Linkoven 2?, Popup Linkwheel and Popup Linkthese.

Many things were just Popup Linkleft,  Popup Linkunused.. Some were quite large and I don't really know why Popup Linkall of them were left there. This obviously fell because it was Popup Linkrusted Popup Linkthrough.

The buildings are in Popup Linkdifferent  Popup Linkstages of Popup Linkdisrepair. It's strange how people will Popup Linkdump anywhere. Some provide air as well as   Popup Linklight.

And Popup Linkthis was a combination of two views of one photo, and I even prepared a little rental blurb for you entertainment. "This rustic apartment is within walking distance of Historic Old Town Spring. Rich foliage blocks the sound of nearby roads. Unique windows offer the view of historic buildings and a lovely lullaby is often provided by passing trains. The apartment offers all natural plumbing. Installation of Lightning rod suggested in order to channel electricity for power. Stairway is out of order, a ladder may be provided upon request."

And for those of you who have been following me ;) I have a spot of good news. I finally got a job :)

Civil War - Sepia

By armytnkr written 3/21/06 6:47 AM, published 3/21/06 6:47 AM
In my post on March 19th, I displayed a series of photos taken at a Civil War reenactment.  I have received a couple of requests to do them in sepia.  One of them came out really good, so here it is Popup Linkdrummer boy.

Indulge me please...because there may be one more.

I had so much fun scanning in old photos that I couldn't stop.  Once again, these are about 25 years old.

Well it was Gallery Night in Alpine. All the stores are open with food and drink! I showed in a friends store with her. Here are a few that I hung. I sold several which made me really happy since I invested in a new printer. It's the HP 8700. It prints to size 13X19...It was great! Here's a few that I put in the show...Popup LinkMy grandkids Popup Linkreflections of the creek Popup Linka sepia Popup Linka bird bath at sunset

I was so excited, as I was blowing the leaves in the front yard..whats that I see?  it's Santa in a brown UPS truck. Today was the day my canon 20D arrived, but kinda like a Christmas gift..I had to wait to open it. Finally 6 hours later I opened it, and started to read the Popup LinkManual..thirlled to play with the parameter settings and shoot in sepia and  Popup LinkB&W . I can't wait to learn what this camera can do..Damn now I wish I could afford the 5D..But that will have to wait..I got to watch my recording of tonights Popup LinkLost ..and then go and wash those pans..Darn it,why didn't I check to see if they were cleaner?

Ok, I've tried to do this using the gallery feature, but, it's not working right now.  Bear with me....sorry for so many pics....
I've had so much help here and inspiration; it's hard to include everyone in one post.  Some of these people have "coached" me on what to do; others I have just admired your work and strive to take pics as well as you.
I'll start with the one who gently "nudged" me to look outside the box.  Here's to you, Popup LinkJohn Popup Link2 Popup Link3 Popup Link4 Popup Link5
I admired these and longed to do one, but didn't know how.  Popup Linkdennisjb and Colbb are my inspiration and guide here.
To Popup LinkStevenWolf for inspiration on b/w and Popup Linkwood Popup Linktexture.
Y'all know I've been struggling with my moon shots; poor ol' Popup LinkWilk has coached until he's probably thrown his hands up in defeat!  I AM still trying....
Lastly on this post, I want to acknowledge Popup LinkJimmy Popup LinkNeutron, the macro king!
I thank everyone on this site for helping me to achieve what I have so far; I'm not where I wanna be, but I'm closer than I was.  THANK YOU, and I hope y'all enjoy!
