Photographica, Mobile Edition (beta)

Hello Everybody,
I'm pleased to announce a very early beta edition of Photographica Mobile. Photographica Mobile is a slimmed down version of Photographica. Let me know how this looks on your phone. I've tested this on my Motorola RAZR with good results.
From your cell phone or iPhone, visit: http://www.photographica.org/mobile
Have fun!
Update [May 16th 8:17am PDT]: I should have mentioned that right now you cannot get to the comments from the mobile page. I'm not sure about how to handle posting comments yet because I have to figure out a good way to let you log in. I dunno about most of you, but unless your cell phone has a full keyboard, entering long passwords isn't easy. I might do what paypal does and have a separate PIN number to log in to the mobile pages.
If any of you have already been browsing Photographica before this mobile page, let me know what works and what doesn't on the "real" site. For example, can you post comments? Post stories? Were you able to vote before I removed it?
Lastly, does your cell phone carrier/mobile web browser "massage" the website before it hits your phone? For example my carrier, AT&T, will shrink all of the images both in file size and in physical size before sending them to my phone.
Subscriptions
Alrighty... I've done some very major improvement on the subscription system. No new features, but now giving us money actually works! If you were constantly getting a "declined" error, try, try again. Your card wasn't actually getting declined, it wasn't getting processed at all because of a very boneheaded move on my part (doh!)
So...
FogBUGZ, my*, and other miscallany
I've purchased FogBUGZ which is a wonderfully designed bug tracking software. If you send me a private message, your message will wind up in the tracking database and I'll reply to you probably via email. Hopefully this will help me improve the response time to bug reports and other questions. If you haven't noticed, there is a box on the right for adding this website to MyYahoo, Bloglines and now myMSN. I've also added the capability to add individual users to these sites as well.
The last bit of miscallany is this week I'll get workin' on the t-shirts. I'd like to get these going to so you can hopefully have them before christmas. We shall see...
The Bi-Weekly Challenge... Formalized
At long last, I've tamed the awesome, organic bi-weekly challenge. If you look to your right you'll see a new box that tells you what the challenge is.You can click "write your entry..." and it will add you to the current challenge.
Thats all there is to it!
Tags: The Low Down
For example, using tags - Here is a map of all the tags so far. The larger the tag is, the more popular it is.
The Goal
The goal of tagging is to look at a story and say "wow, I want to see more posts like this one!". So you view its tags and find a characteristic you would like to see more of.
The Catch
See, the idea behind tagging is that you get to decide what uniquely describes a post. So the catch is it is up to you to make it work!
The Process
The process of tagging is pretty simple. You take a post (like this one) and ask yourself "what words describe this story and its images". You then click Show Tags or Add Tags and click Change, which will let you add and remove tags associated with a story. If you feel an existing tag doesn't accuratly describe the post, you can remove it. If you feel there is a phrase that also could describe the post, you can add it. Sometimes the system will suggest phrases already in the system. You can accept one of those, or use your own.
Now what?
We need to get started. I encourage every one of you to go back and tag your old posts. The more posts on this website that get tagged, the better.
Remember, you can do this to anybodies story, not just your own!
So.... Go fourth and tag!
Tags!!!!!!
What the heck are tags?
Tags are a way you, the members of this site, can categorize the many, many posts found on this website. If your post is about Lights in Seattle, you'd tag the post as "Lights" and "Seattle". The system has a built in way of checking your tag against what already exists, so you might want to use that.
I'll write more... but I'm mentally dead
Yup... I've been doing this since 9 this morning, so that is about 12 hours straight.
Night ya'll... I'll explain more tommorow.
PS: DailyKOS. Eat your heart out.
What!? More site news!
You may have noticed there is an elite few who had zany slogans below their avatars. Well, as a subscriber you too can join the elite ranks of those with zany slogans! Just go into your preferences and change it!
New Sections
It looks like "For Sale" didn't cut the mustard. I've removed the section and dumped the content into a new secion - "Photologs".
Photologs
Photologs, which was re-named from "Photo Journals" is now open to anybody. The idea is a place for you to dump your random thoughts and images without nearly as much regard to their quality. Took a bunch of pictures of last nights dinner? Wanna just BS? Post it to Photologs...
I should add that (hopefully) the 24-hour rule is not in effect for photologs. You can post there when you'd like, as much as you'd like.
Articles & Reviews
I've added a new section called "Articles & Reviews". This section is, as the name implies, a place to write "how to" articles or product reviews. I've resectioned some older content into this new section. If you've written or know of something on this site that should be in this section, message me.
Cheers!
