Most of you are familiar with White Sands from the posts I and others have placed on this site.  White Sands is also the home of America's space program.  Launch Complex 33, on White Sands Missle Range, is the first launch complex built here.  It was built in 1945 to help develop America's missle/rocket program.

I took these shots just a bit ago, and I am hoping the folks on the West Coast see it quickly. If you go out and check you will have an opportunity to do this shot, and better than I have I am sure. I am posting two shots, and then cropped them.

I saw another posting of a harvest moon in Minnesota, so I thought that I would post the pic that I took at about the same time of night in Illinois.Popup LinkIllinois moon It appears that we have a lot in common.  I did'nt have my tri-pod with me, so it came out with a little blur to it.

Here is my entry for Moose's photos of my home from space. Thanks to a friend, I am able to make a direct link to a satellite and shoot the photos with my Canon. I cannot reveal what institution my friend is connected with, but check 'em out.

Unfortunately, I was only able to get satellite time from him during the hours of darkness, but in the future if he can free up some daylight time I will repost more, but I don't think it will be any time soon.

Moose, I hope you enjoyed my entry, and thanks much for the great idea.
