Quabbin Reservoir

By TravLin Vicariously written 4/13/06 6:19 PM, published 4/13/06 6:19 PM
I am still wondering where spring is...still no colors out here other than brown.  So, here are some more brown pictures for you:)
These photos are from the Quabbin Reservoir. It was created by flooding 4 towns in MA in 1939. The flooding was completed in 1946 providing drinking water for the Boston area.
It is a great place for wildlife pics, but today I felt too lazy to hike in the woods. One thing about this area... it is full of deer ticks. I had my share of them over the weekend. Gross!! So, here are some roadside shots

Maybe it is just me, but I thought I could see something in this tree trunk. Popup LinkWho do you see?
Please feel free to give me your honest suggestions. I cannot improve without your help:)

I'm back...in the cemetery.

By tditzgb written 10/25/05 5:00 PM, published 10/25/05 5:00 PM
Well..it's been quite awhile since I've posted anything here but I finally got out for some pics today.

I had not shot in this cemetery before despite it's relatively close proximity to home. As always, I found the most interesting subjects in the older sections of the grounds.
The Popup LinkStairway to Heaven made for a very eye-catching black and white image. I upped the contrast on this quite bit. I'd like to know what you all think of what I've done. Here's a wider view of the full stairway.Popup LinkStairway _Fullview. To keep with the b&w theme i've got going here I'll stop for now but I'll post a couple color pics tomorrow.

3 Rolls Later...

By tempestskye written 10/23/05 4:01 PM, published 10/23/05 4:01 PM
So far this year, I have spent most of my time in my advanced photo class in the darkroom and the following are results of that work.

Our first assigned roll was a roll of our choice. It could contain any subject we wanted. I had to be at school on a Saturday for SAT prep class anyway, so I took my camera to class with me, planning to take photos after the class. When class was dismissed, I wandered over to the sand volleyball pit and took a picture of the Popup Linkdrinking fountain next to it. Then I wandered over to Popup Linktenis courts and took a photo of that. I took a few more photos in that area and walked down by the boys dorm, where I took a photo of the Popup Linkchains on the wooden bridge down there. On my way out of campus, I found some neat Popup Linkshadowy stairs.

Our second roll of film was chronicling an event during Spirit Week. I chose the Powder Puff Finals. The game began with the Senior girls in a Popup Linkhuddle in hopes to intimidate the Junior girls with their power. Later in the game, a student coach was going over the Popup Linkgame plan. The girls could sit on this Popup Linkbench if they wanted to, but no one did.

And, finally, our third roll for the year was our homage project. We were to choose a photograph we like and emulate it. I really liked the beauty and simplicity of Ansel Adam's "Oak Tree Sunrise" and after much searching, I found a Popup Linktree to photograph. Here's a Popup Linkvertical shot of that tree.

Another Fall Day!

It was just another fal day here in MIchigan...cloudy, cool and drizzle. I did get out and take some Popup LinkFall Color shots. Popup LinkAcrons are everywhere this year....the squirrels will be happy this winter. There was so much Popup LinkColor on the ground today....and in the Popup LinkTrees. As I left I took the Popup LinkStairs to the upper part of the park. Tyler took these cat photos...of Popup LinkCurious George and a big Popup LinkSmile.
