7-28-2010 Spaz on Stairs
Hiii. Yesterday, my cat actually ventured out of the bedroom onto the landing at the top of the stairs. This is a big deal for him, as he is totally scared of our other cat, Heidi, who relentlessly beats him up every chance she gets. That's why he lives upstairs, because of Heidi, and usually he is happy to stay up there. When I saw him on the landing yesterday, I thought, document it, and got my camera. These aren't the best shots in terms of focus, and I know it...I didn't have anything to brace myself on to steady my hands/arms...but these are the best i got out of what I shot. To my amazement, Spaz actually came down a whole step, even. That's progress for him. I think while I was shooting, he was on the lookout for Heidi, who actually didn't appear, for once...not that Spaz ever really relaxed, lol. But hey, progress, not perfection. I'm proud of him.
I was lucky enough to spend 10 days in Singapore. I did a lot of sightseeing. One of the first things I got to do was tour this old Firehouse . I also thought the wall at Ft. Canning Park was really interesting. While out shopping, I came across these sets of very colorful Stairs . I also got to see a bird's eye view of the city while riding the Singapore Flyer . I took a day trip out to Sentosa Island to see the Butterfly Park and the Merlion that it is famous for. I also got to see a beautiful Sun set before I left the island. My trip to Singapore was a lot of fun and I got to end it well with these delicious Cupcakes !
These photos are from the Quabbin Reservoir. It was created by flooding 4 towns in MA in 1939. The flooding was completed in 1946 providing drinking water for the Boston area.
It is a great place for wildlife pics, but today I felt too lazy to hike in the woods. One thing about this area... it is full of deer ticks. I had my share of them over the weekend. Gross!! So, here are some roadside shots
Enfield Lookout 2
Maybe it is just me, but I thought I could see something in this tree trunk. Who do you see?
Please feel free to give me your honest suggestions. I cannot improve without your help:)
I'm back...in the cemetery.
I had not shot in this cemetery before despite it's relatively close proximity to home. As always, I found the most interesting subjects in the older sections of the grounds.
The Stairway to Heaven made for a very eye-catching black and white image. I upped the contrast on this quite bit. I'd like to know what you all think of what I've done. Here's a wider view of the full stairway.Stairway _Fullview. To keep with the b&w theme i've got going here I'll stop for now but I'll post a couple color pics tomorrow.
3 Rolls Later...
Our first assigned roll was a roll of our choice. It could contain any subject we wanted. I had to be at school on a Saturday for SAT prep class anyway, so I took my camera to class with me, planning to take photos after the class. When class was dismissed, I wandered over to the sand volleyball pit and took a picture of the drinking fountain next to it. Then I wandered over to tenis courts and took a photo of that. I took a few more photos in that area and walked down by the boys dorm, where I took a photo of the chains on the wooden bridge down there. On my way out of campus, I found some neat shadowy stairs.
Our second roll of film was chronicling an event during Spirit Week. I chose the Powder Puff Finals. The game began with the Senior girls in a huddle in hopes to intimidate the Junior girls with their power. Later in the game, a student coach was going over the game plan. The girls could sit on this bench if they wanted to, but no one did.
And, finally, our third roll for the year was our homage project. We were to choose a photograph we like and emulate it. I really liked the beauty and simplicity of Ansel Adam's "Oak Tree Sunrise" and after much searching, I found a tree to photograph. Here's a vertical shot of that tree.
Another Fall Day!
It was just another fal day here in MIchigan...cloudy, cool and drizzle. I did get out and take some Fall Color shots. Acrons are everywhere this year....the squirrels will be happy this winter. There was so much Color on the ground today....and in the Trees. As I left I took the Stairs to the upper part of the park. Tyler took these cat photos...of Curious George and a big Smile.
