Hey...I've been gone for a really long time...I'm now in Houston and working on the docks. This is my usual morning as I leave work the sun coming up on the dock
So I am REALLY slow ...
... when it comes to editing images. More precisely slow to edit to get the effect I want. This image was taken in 2009 and there are many iterations. What do you think?
Fall Vacation, 2011
A quick overview of our fall vacation.
Day one, hard driving.
Day two, hard driving, but we're closer.
Day three, MsQ caught a cold. Plans changed, no hard driving, find a place camp.
Day we left, I came down with the cold. Another easy traveling day. Made it to
Great Sand Dunes NP. Modern restrooms, but no electricity. Well it was nice the previous nights, so OK. It snowed in the mountains near us. Stayed two nights.
Sand dunes 1 people would walk up the dunes then slide down, like it was snow
Sand dunes 2 with clouds like that, we didn't stick around to see them break something
Sand dunes 3 big sand dunes
When we left, MsQ was feeling better, I was felling better, so we made it a semi-long day. Made it to
Mesa Verde NP. Spent four days, stayed outside the park, walking (still weak), resting, and visiting the town of Cortez.
Mesa Verde 1 there is a ranger between the trees
Mesa Verde 2 another set of houses
Mesa Verde 3 lizard
Left and made it to Pagosa Springs, Co. Stayed two nights, enjoyed the hot springs, they make you weak, but killed the cold. Sorry no pictures of us splashing around in the tubs.
Took off and spent two more days back at Lathrop SP. This time MsQ got to enjoy it some.
Then a long day driving, a quick one nighter in the camper, and finally home. Our butterfly collection. Long trip. Long post. Not too many photos, but quite a few for this post.
Just to let you people know, the duck hasn't left the nest. Quack.
Well, after a long rainy weekend, 20 degree temperature drops and one overcast day, the sun finally decided to make it's appearance this morning. It was too pretty to pass up, so I got my little point and shoot out of my purse, snapped a shot from my front yard and then took a few more for good measure when I got down the road.
Again, these were taken with a panasonic p&s camera. And two while driving. Not the best quality ever, but I thought they fit the challenge. And seeing as I haven't shot anything in 2 months, I'm gonna share :-)
Happy Earth Day 2010
"Treat The Earth Well: It Was Not Given To You By Your Parents, It Was Loaned To You By Your Children. We Do Not Inherit The Earth From Our Ancestors, We Borrow It From Our Children"
I'm still working on photographing trees planted in rows and with NX2 photo editing tools.
I think Windbreak 01 is too saturated. Interested in your comments. BTW-these were shot at ISO 100, f29, focal length of 18, shutter speed of 20 seconds or so just after sunrise (not on same day).
I guess further explanation is in order-when these photos were taken the only light was from straight ahead and a bit from above. Lighting the foreground trees seems illogical to me-they weren't in the light. I'm trying to get a feeling of excitment that the first light of day gives. I'll post the originals later tomorrow for comparison.
Little Boat Ride---Part 3--- Favorite Shot
I was going to post a couple of more shots from the cruise we took in mid January, but things have really picked up at work and I havn't been able to be here much. So, I'm going to go ahead and skip the last couple of pics and post the shot that was my favorite of the trip, now.
On the second day of the cruise, we were sailing past the coast of Cuba. It was fairly early in the morning not too long after sunrise. I saw the cloud formation and figured that the sun was going to break through and do something special. Sure enough. I took this shot from our balcony. The land mass on the Horizon is Cuba.
Hope you like the shot. Thanks for looking.
Foggy Morning Sunrise
Not considered my "best shot" but more of yes I want critique on this one. :)...I've never done a fog shot before so this is my first try. I didn't have but the sun & trees between my neighbors houses to shoot with since I was still in my robe :). What do you think?
Thanks for looking.
Modification -after your suggestions I did a couple of crops as shown in my reply in the comments. I decided to go ahead and put them here also. Thanks everyone.
Lake Hodges Sunrise
Have not posted in quite a while and got a very nice email from ladywendy (Wendy) a few weeks back asking where I was. This photo Lake_Hodges_Sunrise.jpg was taken this morning just outside of Escondido Ca. Taken with the new Canon EOS 5D Mark 2 and my first day with it. Its more camera than I am photographer and will be awhile before we get used to each other :)
This is the view to the west out of my front window as the sun came up this morning (taken THROUGH the window and zoomed in, so not as sharp as it was beautiful IRL).
Sunbreaks in our winter gray sky are unusual, and I thought this might be as close as I'll get to the 'highlights and shadows' challenge:
