Looking back over the archives and came across these I took at Big Bend. A lot of almost good shots. I see so much that I would have done differently with the knowledge I now have. LOL

Ghosthunting And Goth Bees...

By HeatherShade

I went to Galveston to investigate a 'haunted' lighthouse, and felt like I had gone Popup Linkback in time...

The only way to reach Bolivar Peninsula is by ferry, from which the supposedly haunted Bolivar Lighthouse is but a Popup Linkspeck on the horizon. Along the way, we glide past an eerie-looking Popup Linkpartially sunken ship. Once on the peninsula, the Popup Linkblack towering lighthouse dominates the landscape, and a Popup Linkforeboding marsh surrounds the lighthouse around back. Popup LinkPrehistoric-looking cranes roamed the marsh grasses looking for a meal, and Popup Linkwaded the waters off of the peninsula.

After a day of ghosthunting, nature called, showing us a bee, and not just any bee- but an angsty, Popup Linkdressed-in-black Goth bee.... and Popup Linkgargoyles kept watch over the descending sunlight. A ghostly moon Popup Linkpeeking through blossomed trees gave a final otherworldy touch to the unforgettable day...

Went to see the Texas Popup Linkwildflowers last weekend (I know Miztli beat me to the story) and saw some  Popup Linkstrangers and even strangers with  Popup Linka dog.

However, to keep the flowers wild and beautiful, certain rules have to be followed. It is sad that despite the large warning Popup Linksigns, some on the Popup Linkother side  of the fence just don't listen.

Roberts Cemetery

On our trip to find abandoned buildings we passed a road called Roberts Cemetery Road. Intrigued....we drove down this road, and were delightfully rewarded.  Several headstones had a very loving quality to them as it appears as though they are handcarved- Popup LinkEaster, Popup LinkFrizer,  Popup LinkPhillip, poor Popup LinkSallie looks like her headstone is being uprooted by a tree, and Popup LinkWalter.
The cemetery is in disrepair which can be seen  Popup Linkhere and the upkeep in general although it is hauntingly Popup Linkbeautiful.  Strangely, for being called "Roberts Cemetery" I only recall seeing one Popup LinkRoberts but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough?  It was a little strange to see Popup Linkthis in a graveyard, but maybe it is just the thing...Nicer than a simple stone bench to rest on I would think.

And a run down of the remaining headstones that caught my eye and lens: Popup LinkAnna,  Popup LinkBauer, Popup LinkEckie, Popup LinkElla, Popup LinkHier, Popup Linkiron cross(light played with to create this effect), Popup LinkMrs Emma, and Popup LinkOran.

We didn't see strangers... but we weren't  Popup Linkalone.

Huaco Tanks is a pile of rocks in the middle of the desert.  People have been drawn here for thousands of years because the huacos/tanks trap water.  Today it's a magnet for rock climbers and for people like me who are facinated by ancient rock art. There are some 2000 paintings at Huaco Tanks.

Hana Goes To Texas...

Hi Everyone:

I made it to Texas ok, and on my first night there at Jeff's house, we sat on the tailgate of a pickup truck, looked at the moon, and drank hot Popup Linkcoffee. After that, it was late and time to go to bed. Jeff's PJ's were real big on me, but very comfortable. So it was off with the lights and Popup LinkSweet Dreams.

The next day we went outside and I got to meet  Popup LinkRandy. Jeff taught me how to feed Randy and how to talk to  Popup Linkhim. He was a little squirrelly but, he and Jeff seem to communicate well. Randy started picking at me... and I told him that Popup Linkthat tickles. We feed the birds then we decided to go driving.

Since I was in Texas, I wanted to see cowboys and horses and oil wells and millionaires. Jeff said we could go see the horses first. They came right to me when I Popup Linkcalled. I think the Popup Linklittle one liked me most. After the horses we went on a picnic at the park. I got to go on a  Popup Linkslide and we played hide and Popup LinkSeek. I was getting tired so we went back home.

I wanted to get Popup Linkonline and see if any of my old friends were there. I miss surfer and busy and Mrs N and Lechar and John, but I always love making new friends.

I gotta go, but tomorrow I get to go to the Fire Station. See Ya Later.

Love,
Hana
