I started out a film photographer the most famous door in St. Augustine and have enjoyed amateur photography for several years.  Recently though I took up a small digital point and shoot and have been putting it through its paces.  I think I found its limits, but I am satisfied with the results.  A1A Alehouse I started taking some night shots around St. Augustine, Fl, testing what I could do.  spanish fort #1  I shot a lot of the popular tourist spots by night, trying to get more original shots of the local tourist sites.  holiest acre This cross marks the spot of the first Christian consecrated land in America.  Episcopal church I loved the abstract appearance of this steeple by night.

My wife and I spent the evening of July 4th sitting on the deck of a local restaurant where we had a good view of the fireworks.  I shot several photos there, both the daylight scenery and after dark.  pier next to the restaurant pier after dark   freeway and dock

I think I get my money's worth out of the camera.  My instructors at college always encouraged us to look at things with a new eye, and this camera has helped me do that.

On a recent trip to London, I had the chance to attend the Changing of the Guard and, through the fence around Buckingham Palace, I was able to get this shot of a Palace Guard. I think the fence makes a nice frame. Comments?

Here is another from Dachau Concentration Camp.

These are the "ovens " that were used to burn the bodies of the prisoners here. Perhaps the only place that I have been that has really brought the reality of what happened to mind. I have read about it, seen movies about it, and listened to survivors talk about it, but this, to me, said "This IS what happened". It isn't what is taught in High School history class, at least where I went to High School, it is much more than that. I hope that we, as humans, remember what went on and never let it happen again.

While vacationing in Germany, we made a trip to the Dachau Concentration Camp. One of the best vacations I have had in a long time. If you are ever in Europe, I would highly recommend Dachau as a "must see".
