What A Weekend

By Penny written 6/22/06 7:07 PM, published 6/22/06 7:07 PM
I had a great time at the race.  Well camping too!  Here are some of the shots I took.  Popup LinkThis caught my eye first thing when I saw it.  It was the first thing I took pics of. The man that was driving it made it a Popup Linktribute to his son who gave his life protecting ours.  It is covered with pics of him.  I noticed it said Popup LinkHollywood Out on the back window and asked the dad why.  He said when his son would instant message them he always signed them at the end this way. I had to hold my camera up in the air and pray for the best when I took a pic of the Popup Linkhood of the truck with the pic of his troop. It was an amazing tribute.  The plate of the truck said simply "C R Hero".  The tailgate said his name and had more pics.  It was a amazing.

Now on the lighter side of the weekend.  Here are some funny shots:

Thanks You To All Veterans

One year ago today...I submitted my first post to photographica - I remember it like it was yesterday. Unsure and nervous about how my photography would be talken by the group as a whole...
April 12, 2005 - My first post.

Now - looking back on the year - I realize I have gained confidence and embraced my vision

When I think of deb's photos, I usually think people and words.

Close your eyes and see if you can imagine a woman, dressed in camo, smoking, pulling her dog in a wagon -- thought bubble: "What would you do if you couldn't fail?"

See what I mean?

^ ^ ^ ^ ^

I also think of close ups.  Hers were some of the first that really grabbed my attention; they managed to reveal the whole idea by capturing only part of the subject.

Tribute Theme Post-Number 1.

By lechar written 11/12/05 10:06 AM, published 11/12/05 10:06 AM
I have chosen to post, in regards to this theme, the soul inspiration for why I'm even a member of this site.  It is not a member of Photographica, but someone near and dear to me-my father, Jose.

He is the reason why I love photography as a hobby.  He has been the shutterbug in the family and loves film.  He has always had his camera at every family function, vacation or just because.  He photographs everything!  He doesn't know technical terms like DOF, composition or how to use fancy equipment, but he captures what is near and dear to him-memories.  That is why I take the photos I take.  I am here to share those memories. I am also here to hone in skills, learn from others, be inspired by others, be part of a community.  I'm still learning and trying. I sometimes wish that I could achieve the results of others on here, but everyone is differnt/unique. And maybe I don't always get it, but that's okay.

I'm here for me.

So here's to Jose!

Popup LinkThanks, Dad!

A Tribute of sorts...

By Penny written 11/9/05 3:47 PM, published 11/9/05 3:47 PM
I want to thank Lil' for introducing me to this site.  Also she got me more interested in some of the advance settings I thought I would never use on my camera.  I still have a lot to learn.  I thank her for that.  Oh and showing me some really great PSing stuff. There are several people here on Photographica that I admire.  Austinspace, Moose, Rock, Wilk, TT, Jeffery and Classy I have learned something from all of you.  You all have influenced me in some way.  I have learned to "think outside of the box" so to say since coming to this addictive place.  Here are some pics that are me really thinking outside the box...Popup LinkChevy  Popup LinkChevy 2 Popup Linkchrome  Popup Linkchrome 2

Tribute 2

To a mystery man who shares my love of national parks and of photographing the great outdoors.  I hope I can someday match the awesome landscapes you've posted here.
