Windmill in Pella

By Lidljo written 7/25/06 1:11 PM, published 7/25/06 1:11 PM

Earlier this month when we were in Iowa we visited the town of Pella - yes, Pella windows are made there.  There is a town ordinance that all the town buildings are suppose to have a Dutch Facade.  There is also a working windmill downtown Pella where they make flour that is used in local bakeries.  Walk with me on the tour of the windmill.

Bonus - while walking the streets downtown I walked under an outdoor stairway - when I looked up I saw this-

The Hague

When I was living in The Hague (The Netherlands) there were certain images you would see on a regular base, like the Popup Linkcasino, and Popup Linkhet Kurhaus,  Popup Linkthe lighthouse  in Scheveningen, and of course Popup Linkde Pier and just the Popup Linkbeach and the many, many  Popup Linkseagulls. On the other side of the city is the soccer stadium in  Popup Linkhet Zuiderpark. If you have seen it all, it's time to throw some darts and have a beer in a cosy Popup Linkbar But if you still want to see some more you can take a windmill tour.

Architecture: Chicago, Notre Dame, Montreal

By diamante01 written 3/5/06 5:38 PM, published 3/5/06 5:38 PM
Some photos from our junior high field trip to Chicago last May:  The Popup LinkSears Tower is quite impressive!  The view of the Popup LinkChicago skyline from the top of the Popup LinkSears Tower is an unbelievable 360 degree view of the sprawling city and the Chicago River below.  I liked the way the light reflected on this Popup Linkbuilding.  This Popup Linkchurch is in the heart of the city and is quite breathtaking against the backdrop of the night sky.   Here is another view of the church with a garden of Popup Linktulips.  On the way back to Ohio, we visited the campus of Notre Dame to tour the Popup LinkBasilica of the Sacred Heart.  Beautiful!

And more of Montreal:  A building in Popup Linkdowntown and a Popup Linkwindmill on Lac St. Louie in the village of Pointe Claire.
